HELP! WHAT SHOULD AFOAF DO?

HELP!
AFOAF just cased eq's 5 days ago using 1pt wheat straw, 2 ptcow dung and 1pt lime.
It seems to be hard thick layer, could it be to dry or compacted?
or is it supposed to look like that?

Some pinns are poking through in a few lighter coated spots,
will the shroomies be able to poke through the dung?

If recasing is a possibility at this point please let me know soon she is traveling this weekend and has no idea what to do!

They mycelium? Sounds like overlay which isn't favorible for fruiting. I have a casing with overlay and it will only pin in the spots where the mycelium is thinner.

actually the mycelium is not covering the top of the soil at all, it is only poking through in a few spots, and where it is it looks like pins forming but the top layer looks to hard, and needs to be loosened. I was thinking of maybe pasturizing more straw and take the casing lyer off (because I could that is how hard it is)and recase. This time using more straw in the mix.

What my real questions is, is really if cow dung and wheat straw with the addition of lime suitable for mushroom growth?
(meaning the casing will not be to compact and provide for the mycelium what it is supposed to)


HELP STILL NEEDED!
anything anyone has to say to help would be greatly appriciated.

could you maybe have a little too much lime? would explain the dry/compacted casing...

50/50+ calls for a ratio closer to 1 part lime to 14 parts everything else. the ratio you described is more like 1 part lime to 3 parts everything else....that's a lota lime IMO.
