Quick question about dunking.
    #5914086 - 07/30/06 04:17 AM (17 years, 6 months ago)

In the past, I never really fooled with more than 2 flushes, just cuz I wanted my tubs for other runs. Now, the question. If a substrate produces all flushes pins at once, then wouldnt dunking hurt the pins and such?

It doesn't produce all pins at once. Simple observation will verify this.

You are correct FungusMan, it's very common for the pins for the second and successive flushes to be set at the same time pins are set for the first flush. These pins sit dormant until their time comes, then they mature.

I've never found that dunking damages these pins. Just be careful not to scrape or otherwise physically damage them.

Thanks Roger. The strain is OI, and these suckers are depleting my substrate in a way Ive never seen. The first flush couldnt even mature fully due to lack of water.
