how can i tell if my honey water is carmelized?

i have read in the teks that it is very easy to carmelize the sugar in a honey water solution during PCing. Does anyone know how you can tell if this has happened or will i just know? thanks in advance.

It will become quite ovbious. Although I have no experience I have been told that they will become brownish and possiby float around in chunks.

Don't pc it..... boil it in water......get a candy therm......and bring the water up to 160 to 170 degrees...Put the jar with the teaspoon of honey in for 30 to 40 minutes.
Swirl it.....let it cool down to room temp....then add your spores.
Put it in your incubator.....let it germinate.
Mine turned out great.

a little late for that, i did them last night in my pc. i set some rags on top of the small rack that keeps them off the bottom. then i did it for about 8 minutes, letting it cool on its own. everything appeared to be fine. thanks for the advice though.
