Tell me what you think
    #5913754 - 07/30/06 01:31 AM (17 years, 6 months ago)

Well, I've been sitting on this little attempt at poetry for awhile now... I guess it's time to share it. Please be kind.  :shineon:

If I could place the moon upon a chain,
Transcribe to song, the soft, sad freshness of the rain,
Would my trinket and tune be a close facsimile,
To a sacred night’s glow, or evanescently wet plain?
If snow were to fall, at my soft beck and call,
A warming breeze, my need appease,
Would the elements truly be under my command?

Sadly, the captured moon becomes naught but rock,
Jarred rain comes to no more than a refreshing draught.
Summoned snow is little more than ice,
And o’er wished wind is undependable at best,
Nothing that could warm my cooling breast.

I look ahead, although my feet may eventually tread,
I am never where I quite thought that I would be.
Looking back upon those counted years,
Of laughter, gains and losses, countless tears,
The horrible events that played upon our deepest fears.

These eyes have seen, though their vision be not quite so keen,
A multitude of places I have called Home, and people I named friends.
But, somehow all the beginnings take us away from our planned ends.
The road, my friend, is long and winding,
Happily enough, the joy is in the finding,
Not where you want to be or what you’re minding,
But the twisting way in which you became the man you are.

--------------------
The story goes, or the way that I was told
There was a king that always felt too high and then he fell too low
And so he called all the wise men to the hall
And begged them for a gift to end the rises and the falls
But here’s the thing, they came back with a ring
It was simple and was plainly unbefitting of a king
Engraved in black, it had no front or back
But there were words around the band that said
Just know: This Too Shall Pass

Quite wonderful, I really did enjoy it.

Very nice way of putting words together, and an interesting message.

Good stuff man.  :shineon:
