Felons get degree from prison but no federal aid?

I thought about something today... How is it that a felon is uneligible for federal aid for college, but at the same time they can commit another felony and get their college education/degree free from prison. I wouldn't doubt some would start a crime spree just to get this kind of education payfree considering they aren't even eligible for financial aid in the US.

they can get a degree in prison, because it's allocated in the prison budget, since they still have to pretend jail is a rehabilitative institution. But felons are not allowed to get any kind of government assistance once outside of prison.
p.s. nice sig

Felons are in fact allowed to get some kinds of government assistance once outside of prison depending on their offense and what particular kind of assistance you are talking about. I know they can get Section 8 HUD housing assistance as one of my tenants has a felony. After 5 years, for most felons Section 8 is at least a possibility.

Well I believe thats part of social service-type stuff. I'm by no means even close to an expert on that, but I do know felons can still get welfare, foodstamps, etc. But as far as getting the government to help pay for anything other than necessities, is a hurdle.
Of course, there is ALWAYS a waiver for something, provided you know the right person. That's for damn sure, cause this is fuckin america! heh..
