Okay...so it's been at least 7 weeks. I have them pretty much at 90% colonized they have shrunk and everything was measured as pftek, they have their own room, same 84% temp the whole time, no light coming through...but have not seen pinheads. They have been done colonizing and have not seem progress for a couple weeks. Should I cold shock them like bring the temp down to 75% for a day? Or should I turn them upside down. We have 8 jars, 4 no lids, 4 with lids. Not sure what else to do. This is our first time and we don't want it to all be a waste. I DO NEED pinheads before I birth them right? I was under the impression that I did, which is why I'm still waiting.

you'v waited too long
once the cake is completely colonized, wait 2-3 days so the inside can finish
then birth it

you DO NOT need pins formed to birth a cake.
birth now.
or...
fill the jars/glasses with distilled water, (if you want you can clean the cakes off a bit and put them back before this) place them in the fridge for 24 hours (dunking the cakes) the fridge is not for cold shocking, you don't cold shock cubes, the fridge is to prevent bacteria from blooming in your water. remove the cakes after dunking and give em a rinse. roll them is pasteurized casing material, or vermiculite. be sure to get plenty on the top and bottom too. and on to fruiting.
or you could crumble them into trays and case them after the dunk. or you could spawn the crumbles into a pasteurized bulk substrate.
whatever...

Someone failed shroomschool or did not attend.
What do you mean you have 4 lids on and four without lids?
Did you just take the lids off, leaving the cake in the jar?
You said no light is getting to them.....do you know if you want start pinning (in most cases), you need to give them some light? possibly FAE?
7 weeks how shrunken are they? All the nutes might be gone by now.

Also, they have of course seen some light when my bf kept looking at them. But, I put a stop to that. Well, I will try to dunk them and roll and put them in their incubating terrarium. What does light fae mean?
