I'm not able to determine if there is an actual need for this, as I have no information regarding what times moderators of specific forums are active, but I know that, often, issues that arise may go too long without being addressed because no moderators in the forum are active.
Perhaps there could be areas of forums, possibly larger forums paired up with smaller ones, in which, if someone in a specific forum clicks the notify moderator link, any moderator in the area will receive the notification, and not just the moderators in the specific forum.
This wouldn't require moderators to observe and moderate more forums, but to simply check in when someone reports a problem, so that it can be resolved as soon as possible. The nature of staffing is such that all areas will not be covered at all times, and I think this would address this.
Ja or nei?
 Peace.

Why not just deal with it for the few hours it takes for a mod to get online again? If you're that sensetive you should only post during the regular hours when the babysitters are here.
Or you could try one of those kid-safe sites where every post is moderated before being posted.

You dont seem to understand that some forums have little or NO Mod support.
I know trip tips didnt have ANY mod assigned to it for months.
So no, waiting for someone to come online isnt an option for every forum.
no need to be smarmy about it.

Oh no! NO mods!?! Whatever will we do? What if somebody says something mean to me?
I guess I'll just have to get used to crying myself to sleep.

This doesn't have much to do with flames at all, so I fail to understand how one's sensitivity has some play in this. Sometimes individuals' reveal that they are under 18, sometimes people ask others for drugs, sometimes users make statements that could attract the wrong attention from organizations and agencies. These are issues that need to be dealt with in a timely manner, and any moderator should be able to receive the moderator notification and correct it.
But yes, things like flaming and flooding should probably be resolved in a timely manner as well, because issues tend to have a way of spreading like wildfire when they are allowed the time to, and I think we know that this happens frequently.

This proposal has nothing to do with excessive moderation. If a user submits a concern with the notify moderator button, which is an exception. People who post at the Shroomery aren't going to take other peoples' shit, so if someone is notifying a moderator, is probably is a real concern.
 Peace.
