Pasturize or Sterilise substrate for Pan Cyans?
    #5912096 - 07/29/06 01:37 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

Im planning on doing a Panaeoulus Cyanescens monotub soon with a hella lot of cpoo/straw/verm and what not. I was just wondering if i should sterilize and spawn in oven bags untill colonisation or if i should just pasturize the substrate and spawn it in my monotub.
Whats recommended?

Im thinking of halfing the monotub with 2 different substrates. Make one half hpoo based and the other half cpoo based, then i will know which is the highest yielding substrate.

Any more views on the subject? I understand that cyanse are more prone to contamination than cubes.

always sterilize grain for spawn.
always pasteurize bulk substrate material (compost, poo, coir, straw)
always pasteurize casing material

copelandias are no different than cubensis.

why do you HAVE to pasterise casing material? There is no evidence that panaeolus cyanescens benefits from pasterised casing material.
Have you ever actually cultivated Panaeolus cyanescens?

God you are picky.
Okay, you don't HAVE to pasteurize casing material for pans,
according to ^^.
But I do.
And yes, I am currently viewing two pan strains at the moment.
