Is there depression thats good for us? Perhaps if I were depressed about the shitty lifestyle I currently live in. Maybe this depression is some for a motivation for me to make some changes. Perhaps depression thats bad for us would be something like. Say I become depressed about things like insecurity, and a constant fear of criticism, which is not a rational and healthy. What can be more solidly defined as good depression and bad depression. And by that I mean good for us or bad for us.

It seems to me that just about anything could be good or bad depending upon how you look at it.
That being said, it's your choice that matters. Do you think that you should do something or do you do it? Depression, for me, seems to be a matter-of-fact kind of thing. If I do not do what I know is right, then it will lead to my dissaproval because I will fail or give up rather than going ahead on the right track.
There is a fine balance between doing what you beleive in and doing what is practical. It is always a balancing act to adapt to the situation at hand. That is the whole point. If you adapt, where is there time to wallow? You are always trying and remaining focused. Sure, you may be under stress or sad or mad sometimes, but that is not the whole story. Life is a bunch of moments. You take it one day at a time. For me, today was challenging. However, it ended well because of my struggle to acheive something.
Someone could have looked at me at many points throughout this day and said: he's depressed. That is just a title. What does it mean? That's up to you to decide. The most important thing is what you do.
The bad kind of depression is to not do what you need and want to do. It is when you are so busy asking, "what should I do?" that you do not do anything. It is when you don't even try to do anything anymore. Basically, that is just a causal factor that leads to failure. Failure is bad, therefore the depression that caused it is bad.
The same is true of what you label as good depression, just the other way around. It is a thought process that leads to success. Quite an oxymoron. =)
I would simplify things to: right and wrong. There is a right way to go about your business and there is a wrong way.
The questions you ask yourself are: why, what, when, how, and with who do you handle your business? The answers give you understanding. With that knowledge, you realize the truth. Your application of knowledge into action is wisdom.
I like the idea of gut instinct because I trust my own. It's the wisdom you've accumulated. Give it careful consideration, at the least.
The concept of heart is making a simple choice and following through. The reason they call it heart is because you usually have to care about the goal at hand more than yourself in order to accomplish it.
Making wise decisions will change everything as far as your lifestyle is concerned. Living a goal-based life will put things in perspective. Sure, your feelings are consequential, but you don't need to focus on them so much that you become paralyzed to action. There is more to life than you. You are just a part.
You might be confused and think that you will never know when you should be considering how you feel more or considering what the goal is more. That is where wisdom comes into play. Experience and understand. Do what is right. It's simple as that.
