Sex in the service of Love is Sacred Sex. Sex qua sex is profane sex. Fun perhaps, but profane and often accompanied by guilt feelings which serve as a reminder of its misuse.
My Lady and I had this discussion again last night. As a male, I believe that I could have incredible sex with another woman yet continue to love my Lady completely with little attachment to the 'other woman.' My Lady understands my desire for other women, but if I act on those desires, the nature of our love relationship will be damaged or destroyed. My Lady can ONLY see sex as an intrinsically personal, intimate reality. I can sleep with a beautiful 'form' without needing to know her 'intimately' (her thoughts, feelings, values, etc.) For my Lady, she needs to really like someone she sleeps with at the very outset, and it goes deeper from there. She does not struggle with the constant inner and outer barrage of sexual images, thoughts, feelings and fantasies that I have. I'm a homebody in good measure because just going to a Miami mall can drive me crazy with input. She says I'm in the throws of a midlife crisis, but this condition used to occur when I was celibate in my 20s! Now I have a sexual outlet and it still occurs.
I realize that not every time I sleep with my partner, Sacred Sex is taking place. Sometimes I just want her body (THIS was a revelation for her! She assumed that it is always this emotionally intimate thing. Wrong.) Sometimes I just want to 'f**k' her, plain and simple (profane sex). Sometimes I am moved by a spirit of eroticism (if she dresses with the evocative fetish accessories, e.g., platform heels, corset perhaps [rare ]), or a spirit of mirth (after sufficient wine), etc. If I'm on MDMA, that is yet another state and its best if I'm not around other women. Sex has different faces for me - but aside from autoeroticism, it is always with my Lady. So, monogamy is the 'law,' within which love can arise and be protected.

Mirth said: Well I have read alot about Hunduistic celibacy and Qi Gong (chinese life energy science) celibacy and neither mentions this as a possible side effect even though both are ancient traditions with huge amounts of experience into these matters, in Qi Gong I have been told that masturbation MUST be quit as a main rule before one can build energy and seriously study the discipline.http://www.chikung.com/chapter8.html "Masturbating is considered "energy suicide" in relationship to your internal energy cultivation practice." .p.s. chi kung talks of swapping vital fuids with a partner as an alternative to standard sex - albeit rather dangerous for your energy if you do it wrongly.
Oh, definetly. However, being sexually pleased (not pleasing yourself), can be quite humbling as well. For me, it quiets the neandearthol thinking process, and I just do what I please instead of trying to impress some girl. Subconscious "neanderthink" as it might be, it is still there, whether you acknowledge it or not.
I'll admit, however, It has become a drug-like feeling for me in the past whenever I would have sex with a GF at least one time a day for several months. Whenever we wouldn't have sex, I would lash out at my friends and just walk around with an all around hockey temper. Kept in moderation, however, it is quite a calming feeling.

An intersting anecdote, I have found a number of times when I have reached a good level of retention that I can stay alert and on top for longer whilst smoking cannabis, spliff after spliff after spliff and I am still going and enjoying the high rather than being overstoned like my friends . I really enjoy this but can get quite mischevous . Also lacking sleep, overexerting myself and generally doing crappy stuff has less effect when I have been retaining for a while - like there is a shield.
Well of course, testosterone build up will give you more confidence and energy. Then again, you're also a virgin (don't mean to make it sound condescending), and haven't experienced the amount of energy you can get from good sex (and the speed that your testosterone will regenerate). For example whenever I would have sex before work, I would always be more confident, more on task, instead of being distracted by desire. Now that sex wasn't really planned out, and would probably lie closer to Markos' definition of profane sex - but if it makes me a more positive person - can it be bad? If a negative makes a positive is it a negative to begin with?

Neither of the links you posted are medical sources. I cannot find any research on positive OR negative physical side-effects of long-term avoidance of ejaculation. I think that the claim that long-term celibacy leads to impotence and/or seminal stones is pretty sketchy.
Retention of urine and feces is not comparable to retention of semen. Urine and feces are waste products, and thus not meant to be stored/reabsorbed by the body. After a man has had a vasectomy, his sperm continues to be produced in the testes, but no longer has an outlet through the vas deferens. His prostatic fluid is still ejaculated during orgasm, but the sperm are reabsorbed by his body. This has no known harmful effect, and I doubt that prostatic fluid would accumulate in a harmful manner, either.
To the OP: you're welcome, and I'm not a "Mr."
