Memories and moving: A short essay
    #5906203 - 07/27/06 05:58 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

Should I shed a tear for those memories past?

I spend this late hour of last true summer vacation of my youthful life rending bits and pieces out of my humble abode. I’m rearranging my room into boxes of various sizes, so they may be moved elsewhere. The deeper I dig into the crevasses of my room the more I claw into those memories of old that have come to mean so much to me. Each time I reach further back to get that last piece of old, worn paper or that hidden, unknown object in the back of that shelf I dig that much deeper into roots my character. Every object that I draw from the darkness into the light instantly yields its mark onto who I am now. The further I dig the more flush the memories become; they become more angry, more happy, more bitter, more blissful, more and more of every emotion which one can experience in a youthful lifetime. Each little discovery is less a hallmark of memory rather a tool that has sculpted my character and my personal being, past and present. The more I carve up this place I have called home for the last decade of my life the more I find about myself. Those memories I have suppressed for pain, distaste and heartache are re-appearing. They claw harder than they did before, the remind me of the past roads I have traversed and through the storms I have waded and survived as a better person. My ventures in life have also yielded plenty of surprise, excitement and happiness too, but even these memories come to hurt now. Though all of these ideals I speak of are things I keep with me at all times, they are things that I haven’t had to think about all at once. It is almost like having your past life flash before your eyes. Alas this is the chore of moving…

If its written crappy I'm sorry. I was a bit raw when writing this. There is a lot I can't express in words so to me this eassy is missing a lot, however it does catch the general opinion of how I feel now.

I know how you feel, rooting through old stuff can do that to you.
All that history behind you and all that.

Live those emotions for they are what make you human, and your past makes you the person you are.
