against gnat's, fruit fly's, etc.
 First line of defense.
Second line of defense (any sticky type trap, or coil)
The SECRET WEAPON
VENUS FLY TRAP A small pot/tray of these, inside large fruiting chambers.
They secrete a pheromone, or odor that attracts gnats. Then, they trap, & eat the bastards.
Venus fly traps thrive in a mushroom fruiting environment.

I tried venus flytraps when I had a gnat problem with some plants. The gnats are to small so they usually don't trigger the trap, or if they do they can just get out. Works well for normal size flies though. The bug zapper seems like a good idea though. How does it attract the gnats? I don't think gnats are attracted to light.

True, often a gnat will not trigger the trap.
However, the gnats get stuck in the secretion, that baits the trap.
Another good gnat trap, is to evenly cut the top off a plastic soda bottle. Pour 1/2 inch of wine in the bottom of the container. Then invert the top, up-side-down & stuff it back in the container like a funnel.
The gnat's are attracted by the wine, go down the funnel, then most often DROWN in the wine

my gnat infestation is getting lower, but after each session of dead trays, i just take my greenhouse outside and give it a washski. I find that one of these works well.
this should be done anyway... but the fly trap is a great idea. They say gnats are attracted to dead gnats, so sitting on the sticky dying will cause more to come to trigger the fly trap.
as for the zapper... does this really work, have you had experience with seeing dead gnats under the light? I will surly try anything i can

The ZAPPER----------> WORKS GREAT.
Set it on a large piece of white paper. Leave it on, all night, in a dark gnat infested area, or room.
In the morning, you will see ZAPPED gnat parts - all over the paper.
They can OFTEN be found in thrift stores CHEAP.

Gnats lay eggs in the substrate. The eggs hatch, and turn into larva. The larva are like tiny MAGGOTS.
The tiny maggots, eat mycelium, and burrow into mushroom fruit bodies.
The larva hatches into more gnats.
The cycle repeats itself, each time creating MORE GNATS.
From the Contam FAQ.
Fungus gnats (Sciarids) (Lycoriella spp.) and phorids (Megaselia spp.)
Adults are small (1/8 inch long), fragile grayish to black flies with long, slender legs and thread-like antennae. Their wings are clear or smoky-colored with no pattern and few distinct veins. Larvae are clear to creamy-white and can grow to about 1/4 inch long. They have shiny black head capsules. They are attracted to the mushroom crop and their larvae feed directly on mycelium, swarm over the mushroom, and tunnel into the developing or developed mushroom. Tissues that have been physically damaged by flies often become colonized by bacteria which cause soft rot, thereby accentuating the problem. Controls include strict sanitation and general farm hygiene. For example, the grow room must be air tight. Fresh air that is used is filtered. Even a small crack will serve as an entry for the flies. Most farms use sticky tape or some other method that allows monitoring of populations. A biocontrol using nematodes offers effective control when populations of flies are low. In addition to the damage which fly larvae cause by eating mushroom mycelium or killing pins, the adults also carry diseases such as Verticillium, Mycogone and Cobweb.
