do your self a favour and saparate them now! check the type of light you use... you could be just wasting 500 watts on a very inafective light while you'll do alot better with 200W of fourecents or a 250 HID/MH
alot of newbe growers get excited about growing befor making sure they have a propper setup and then struggle with the grow because they don't understand what's wrong... all it really needs is root space, water and sun but when growing indoors you have to make sure these conditions are there!
good luck and enjoy

I agree with simisu. Separate them now because it will be too late in no time, the roots grow crazy fast. Also, they won't show sex until they are on the 12/12 light cycle unless they are autoflowering.
Good luck on the grow, I'm doing my first one at the moment.

It's too far from the light, get a compact flouro from walmart for your seedlings. It's just stretching.

definitely look into a 250w HPS light, pretty cheap for the budget grower. and if you can afford the 250, you might want to step up...i should know, I bought a 400w HPS last year and I really NEED to upgrade to at least 600w...preferably 1000w. Good luck

Your going to want to move your lights closer. Those little babies shouldnt be so tall yet. They will stretch out and fall over.

you could use the tube, how many watts does it consume?
I have a rig of 3 14watt energy saving compact flourescent (CF) lights on the cloning box right now. I just keep it on 24/7 and it only consumes 42watts. The coverage area is about 1.5ft x 1.5ft.
I would prefer the CF lights because tubes are long as hell and CFs are, well, compact.

A 20w compact flouro will cost you a few bucks and is more than enough light for the first two or three weeks.

Flowering plants under CFL's seems to be a waste of time from the viewpoint of countless indoor growers. if it's all you can afford then it will work, but nothing beats a HID for indoor grows. However, if you're just vegging your plants under the fluro's with plans on moving them to a HID setup for flowering you'll be just fine.
As far as i know there is no such thing as a "quick indoor plant". A plant will grow according to the parameters that nature sets. The only thing you can cut down time on is vegging the plants, however flowering small cuttings or plants early on will reduce your yeild significantly.
Im only on my second grow, but from what ive read over the past 10 years or so you should veg your plants to at least 12-14 inches before placing them in flowering.

There are two stages in your plants life. Vegetative growth and flowering. Both stages require different lighting. 24hrs on 0hrs off is one for veg, 18hrs on 6 hrs off is another for veg. Your plants will see 10% more growth in the 24/0 period.
When your plants are finished their veg cycle (around 2 ft in height) you place them in 12/12 lighting. This initiates the flowering cycle which takes anywhere from 50 to 80 days.
Like i said there is no way to speed up the process minus cutting down your veg time. You can also take a week or so off when using clones but the difference is not that much. You cannot rush nature, that's all there is to it. There is no such thing as a quick grow, even the lowryder plant takes about two months to finish. The only reason indoor grows can be considered quicker then an outdoor grow is that you can control the photoperiod for your plants.

that's because 24/0 is a vegging photoperiod.

Interesting. I've just always been under the impression that that wasn't the case and from all of the growlogs I've read through I've only seen it when people cut down growing time in increments before putting them in 12/12. Were they in 18/6 when they showed sex?

There are some very impressive CFL grows on display over at cannabis.com . Of course HID's are best but considering the circumstances CFL's grow some alright weed it seems.

my plants stayed in 24/0 until placed in 12/12. They all showed sex before flipping them. My clones im currently growing also showed sex waaaaaay before they reached 2 ft in height (although this is probably because they were cloned).
Not all strains will show preflowers in 24/0, there are some that require you to flip the lights before you can see the sex, but most strains left long enough in the veg cycle will show their sex before they are flipped.
As for the CFL's, like i said if it's all you can afford or have space for then they will work. However anyone serious about attaining maximum yields, density, and bud size will go with a HID any day of the week.
