I'm going on a Subway diet. I'm wondering what you guys put on your Subway sandwitch to make it tasty and are the choices you make healthy?
I'm open for ideas.

Ask for vinegar with no oil.. Even though the oil they use isnt that bad for you, its still fat.
Eat only wheat bread.

I make my own sandwiches for a fraction of the price.
Does anyone else find it sorta ironic that people are trying to be healthy by being too lazy to make their own sandwiches?

try replacing the subway meal with a salad (vinegar no oil) and a piece of fresh fruit. its alot cheaper and healthier than subways. i dont know how it is where u live but the people that make the sandwiches in the subways here arent the most hygenic looking folk.

I don't like the vineger or oil. To SPUD...I don't have sandwhich making ingredients at home. If I were to purchase them...they'd be gone in an instant. I live with lots of other people.

Subway is excellent for the body compared to Wendys, BK, McDs etc
the meat is all turkey which is way better than real salami, ham, bologna
I just load it up with veggies, extra lettuce lots of pickles peppers onions everything
but if you'r planning on the diet, you'd save lots of cash by getting everything you need from a store
just tell your roommates to respect your shit

Granted Subway is better for you than McDonalds, it still has plenty of sodium and cholesterol and carbs. You're eating a giant sub roll for fuck's sake. Subway is still fast food, and should not be used as a diet.
Why not just go on an ACTUAL diet instead of some corporate marketing technique? Reduce your caloric intake and stay active. Cut back on the condiments you use in your food, eat lots of green vegetables, cut back on the amount of red meat that you eat...I'll admit it's harder than going to a restaurant and having someone else make you a sandwich, but it's better for your body and cheaper in the long run.

1st easy step is to replace lettuce with spinach. I fucking despise lettuce so I am definitely biased in that regard. Spinach beats the ever living shit out of lettuce in every way.

If you are going to frequent Subway, remember that cheese is a high-fat item as well. It does your sandwich diet no good if you load up the cheese, even with no meat/mayo/oil. Alos, the mayo they squirt on is always "light" mayo, but the tuna is made with regular mayo. And debianlinux is right. Switch to spinach instead of lettuce. There are vitamins and minerals in the spinach, where the lettuce is mostly water and cellulose... And I think Subways will have a seven grain bread in the near future [it's still in the testing phase here in Oregon]. Happy sandwiching!

Cold Cut with nothing but extra extra mayonaise, so much mayonaise that when you finish your sandwhich there is a pool of it on your little subway wrapper. Oh and Italian herb and cheese bread is a must. Perfect diet.

Cut out the cheese. Lactose is sugar. Plus it doesn't add all that much too the taste. Lots of meat and veggies, no cheese, no extra oils like mayo.
Edit: Also avoid anything sweet, like the meatball sauce, teriyaki, etc.

I don't eat mayo...or any sauce for that matter. Unless it's included in the mix, for example...tuna. I've been eating the tuna sandwiches with nothing but tuna and pickles.
I've lost 10 pounds since I posted this.

i've lost 30 pounds in the last 6 weeks. i put myself on a 1400 - 1500 calorie diet. i dont really care what i eat, but when i get to 1400 - 1500 calories, i stop. it only takes a few days of being hungry at night until you start looking for low calorie foods just so that you can eat more during the day. kinda like a natural food regulator.
yesterday i got a new pair of pants that were 2 sizes smaller than the pair i was wearing before. it was awesome. i got the pants at a poitn where i was feeling particularly weak and it really made a difference in my willingless to continue.
i'm not going to lie, i have 'cheated' many times... like eating dinner at my grandmother's house, but i just start the next day like it is the first and not dwell on it.
i would say that at the beginning, just decide how many calories you want to intake during the day and try to stick to that number. let me give you an example. a few weeks ago i ate dinner at longhorn steakhouse and had a 12oz steak. it was amazingly delicious. a fillet is about 60 calories per ounce so that steak cost me 720 calories from the 1400. i got it a la carte because i knew if i got sides, i would eat them. but after eating the 12oz steak, i was stuffed. and basically that meal cost me half my calories for my day. for breakfast i usually have a banana and a nutrigrain bar. cost of banana is 110 cal and cost of nutrigrain bar is 160 cal. for lunch i might have a grilled chicken sandwich from any fast food restaurant which averages about 330 cals. also, sometime between lunch and dinner i usually get a craving. what i have started eating are nature valley crunchy granola bars. that are awesome. and the cost 160 calories. so for recap on a day when i ate out twice and stayed full all day:
breakfast: banana and blueberry (or raspberry) nutrigrain bar --- 260 lunch: grilled chicken sandwhich ------------------------------------- 330 snack: crunchy granola bar (2 per pack which is one serving ----- 160 dinner: a 12oz delicious steak from longhorn steakhouse --------- 720
total: ---------------------------------------------------------- 1470
that is a day of great food and eating plenty. i know i could be eating waaaay healthier, but for right now i dont care. once i get down to my target weight i will start to increase my daily caloric value until i find out exactly how many calories it takes to maintain that weight. then i can start to flesh out eating much healthier. one goal at a time, i guess.

way too much. i am making a log of the whole experience. i will post it when i finish get to my target weight of 200lbs. 200lbs sounds like alot to some folks, but i am 6'4" with a fair amount of muscle.
i imaging i have lost more body fat than actual weight. i have started climbing the stairs at work instead of taking the elevator. also been doing some light weights, but nothing to the level i was at a decade ago when i was a power lifter.

It's really not THAT much better for you than other fast food. I mean if you're getting a club with doulbe the cheese, thats like, 8 pieces of cheese? Plus 12" of the bread is already 420 calories alone. They have people fooled so bad. BUT IT SAYS ITS HEALTHY ON TEH TV!!!!! I always laugh when I hear people are on the "subway diet" then order a sub with extra mayo, extra cheese, add bacon, etc.

alright lets take a look at the big picture
i'm not fat so i dont worry about fucking calories
take wendys, i go there and i get 2 crispy chickens and 2 double stacks
imagine all the shit put into the meat and all the grease it contains
now look at taco bell, mcds, and bk all that shit contains so much grease
oh wow 12'' of bread who fucking cares, cheese isnt bad, and the meat is turkey
and to top it off, tons of lettuce tomatoes onions olives peppers which are all good for you
tell me what ud rather eat, theres a reason you feel good after eating subway because its better than half the processed shit thats out there
so yea, it is THAT much better for you and for "subway is healthy", what is it BAD for you? more than half the sandwich if fuckin vegetables

If you look at it that way, then yes...subway is healthy.
With that same logic, Subway is also healthier than a dog turd.
Who says you have to eat at either fastfood location A or fastfood location B.
Make your own food you fat bastards and maybe you can loose weight and save the ten bucks on the subs a day. (Not directed to you tuna)

you'll be lucky if you lose weight eating subway.
if you really have to eat fast food, whoever said that taco bell is the best it is...as long as you order the right things. The reason its the healthiest is because you can get anything on the menu vegitarian, as long as you ask for it.
dont eat processed meat.
if you want to lose weight, theres a few key things to do.
1) eat breakfast (it starts your metabolism cranking for the day, if you skip breakfast your body is more likely to keep fat on) i eat 1 cup of vanilla fat free yogurt with half a cup of grape nuts and half a sliced fruit of my choice.
2) exercise...for serious...you dont even need to do that much, you dont need to strength train or build muscle, you need to build cardio endurance which will in turn crank up your metabolism. once your in shape you can eat anything you want and not put on weight as long as your sticking to your training. try to keep yourself going at about 70% of your maximum ability...at 70% effort your body is more likely to burn off fat on your body than it is to burn off the calories you consumed that day.
its all about metabolism, anything else is bullshit.

There is no diet in subway, that is such a stupid marketing gimmick, oh going to lose all this weight pounding subway sandwitches
shoot I'm going to down them like the cash box goes into the register, and lose like hella weight.
I suggest taking all that money and buying food at the grocery store. and making healthy meals each day, its cheaper, its better quality, you don't have to go anywhere and its good skills in making it.

Wow, I don't even want to think about how many calories I eat in a day. I am 20, 5 foot 11 and weigh about 160. I am getting a bit of a gut, but I am pretty lean. In an average day I will eat:
hash browns, eggs, bacon, cheese - full plate, easily over a pound.
2 Sandwiches, meat, cheese, mustard, lettuce, 2 fruit cups, peach and pear. can of V8, granola bar, various other things.
I usually go by Wendi's after work and get a couple Jr bacon cheese burgers.
Supper, big ass meal of lots of meat and potatoes/rice/pasta, and a vegetable.
Snack later on of diner leftovers or something else. Half the size of dinner.
I probably eat around 4000 calories a day, I should start working out.

With your diet you must be getting about 200 grams of saturated fat a day and 10x the RDA for cholesterol. It must be nice to be age 20 with a fast metabolism and able to eat all that crap and still maintain your weight. At age 50 if you ate all that crap you would probably balloon to 260 lbs. instead of 160 lbs.

1400 calories is way below maintence for you automan, your burning muscle, you'll remain skinny fat or lose great amounts of muscle at the rate your going. You should bump it up to 2000-2200 per day, especially if your active and young. Doing things right the first time is much easier than having to put muscle back on. Also you will plateu at some point and start storing fat, because your eating to little.
