still waiting for them to hit.

I just got back from camping in South Lake Tahoe with all my buddies. And while we were up there I dosed everyone with some S.F. cyans that I found myself last december. None of us took a large dose (mine was the largest at 1.6g) the average would be 1.1g. Now I know these aren't large doses, but thats enough to have a great time walking around in the mountains. Well an hour and a half after consumption we all agree they aren't hitting. Although, I had tingle fingers and other people said they were maybe a level .6 So I cant figure this out, why didn't they work? I have tripped off my cyans in the past, off less than a gram. They have been stored in a glass jar, in a cool dry place for just over 7 months. Factors that I am considering: Altitude (8500+ ft) and food. We all ate the same thing before hand, and I made sure we weren't dosing just after eating.
Here's where it gets tricky. I had 1.7 grams of cyanofriscosas left (which are the new San Francisco Bay Area species), anyways I gave my friend these, because he is more experienced. And he tripped quite well! So we get back to our camp spot, which was just perfect for a nice afternoon trip and I roll up a clove spliff, since we should at least get high and watch the sunset if we aren't trippin. We tack out the tent and before the spliff is done, all of us agree that we are more than just high, but just slightly feeling the effects.
Anybody got any thoughts as to why the six of us that took cyans didn't trip, yet the one who took the friscosas tripped fine?

Well, it's hard for anyone to say why you all didn't trip.... just over 1g is not alot at all... and you said you had them stored for more then 7 mosz. so that shurly is a factor.

I cant say why you didnt trip other than what Papixx has stated. But are you really sure you didnt trip at all, also, they are two different species, i have no experiance with either, but one could be more potent than the other, also were the stored shrooms dry? Were the jars air tight? (grasping at straws but, not much else there)

don't forget these aren't cubes but cyans, much more potent and 1g is enough for a full blown trip usually. I also have no idea why you didn't trip. I've tripped off shrooms that were years old and they still worked fine.

jar was air tight. and the cyans were of course dried properly. I am SURE i didn't trip, and the two different types of mushrooms should not be THAT different in potency. especially since the cyanofriscosas are an evolved complex of cyans.

Do you mean Psilocybe cyanescens and Psilocybe cyanofibrillosa? Please specify Genus names in the future as mushrooms with similar names, such as Copelandia cyanescens, are also active. How were the mushrooms dried? If they had any amount of moisture left in them, then cobweb [or some other type of-] mold may have formed, which can significantly decrease potency (4 [dry] grams of 2-month-old cubes that developed cobweb in their jar gave me a mild lvl 2).

probably more due to the moisture than due to the cobweb.
don't eat contaminated shrooms!

Cope cyans don't grow in California, let alone S.F. and the cyanofriscosas aren't an actual species yet. I made that name up. they arent cyanofibrillosa, which we all thought for a while. and they arent cyans either. this was a hot topic in the hunting forum during the CA season.
as for drying: they were dried using a fan for a few days. and they were crunchy when we ate them, not too much moisture at all.
