Pics - noob's first grow contaminated, eh?

My sorrow knows no bounds. I followed everyone's advice re: slow colonization on my one pint jars by putting them upside down...and the jars became fully colonized quite quickly...BUT there is a brown stain on the bottom of pretty much every jar...I thought this was just the BRF and verm trapped in the expanding mycelium, but it seems to be spreading...shall I simply throw these out and start all over again, or do you think what looks like contamination actually isn't? Pics are attached...
thanks for advice from a first time grower...

Yeah, I was starting to see that it's becoming a requirement lately with some people's posts.
I thought it to be quite appropriate. (:

Just added another pic on top of the two...hopefully this will clarify things...I don't have photoshop, and I'm a bit of a luddite anyway, so...if this pic doesn't work, then apologies for wasting your time etc. best, jash

wow, never seen a contam like that...
almost looks like the myc is rotting, probably a bacterial contamination.
i've never seen 'piss' like that either. much too dark, it looks like someone dumped iodine into the bottom of your jar. have you taken one out and smelled it?

if its spreading/growing, its a contam.
what probably happened, is the contam was there, hard to spot because it appears to be brown, and was slowing your growth. its growth was also probably being slown by the lack of gas exchange. flipping your jars and all that allowed your mycelium to speed up, but also the contam. its not looking good.
i'd maybe take a marker or something and draw a line around it and give it another day or two. if the brown grows outside your line, toss it. if its getting smaller, then you're good. sometimes that last bit on the bottom gets really wet and can be stubborn to colonize and finish up.

so the dark is not just uncolonized area and actually some other shit? I still can't tell, maybe a flash would be in order for this pic.

I took one out this morning and it smelled just fine, though the stain you see at the bottom of the top pix is brown and slimy - and all but one of the jars have this brown slimy stuff at the bottom. Unless I hear different, I'm going to chuck them all and start again, using half-pint jars instead of pint jars. If anyone thinks they're salvageable, can you let me know? Again, this is the first time I've tried this. best, jash
