maturation cycle of a mush
    #5902710 - 07/26/06 07:18 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

the maturation cycle of a mushroom has to go in stages. (Im just guessing. ) first I assume would be the pinning stage ,second stage Im guessing is when the mushroom grows to the point right before it breaks its veil, third is when it breaks it veil ad it ready to be harvested. My mushrooms keep maturing at a very early stage what can I do to prevent this ?maybe get them to grow bigger before its veil breaks?

you may have a substrate that is too thin.
your water delivery technique could be lacking.
it could be many things...

if you have substrates in trays and they are cased, read this:

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/3290155/an/0/page/0

if you have cakes, you should be dunking them and rolling them
in pasteurized casing mix, or just moist vermiculite.
treat them kind of like three dimensional cased substrates.

most likely you are looking at a lacking substrate.

it is possible the water content of the substrate was too low.
try dunking that substrate and try for a better flush.

was it a bulk substrate?
just grains cased?
crumbled cakes cased?
