This song is so awesome. Titties 'N' Beer. One of the great many things that he contributed to the world of music before his death.

Thanks for the song. I haven't heard any Zappa for a long time.

I saw Zappa back in 73 (or maybe it was 72?) for the breathtaking sum of four bucks Canadian. An absolutely fantastic show.
He had pretty much the same musicians with him on that tour as he did for Roxy and Elsewhere -- Ruth and Ian Underwood, Jean Luc Ponty, Napolean Murphy Brock...
I remember it to this day. One of the most enjoyable concerts of my life, and I've seen pretty much ALL the big names from that era -- Santana, Steppenwolf, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Meat Loaf, Grand Funk, Yes, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Pink Floyd, Uriah Heep, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Gentle Giant, Bob Dylan, Joe Cocker, Joni Mitchell, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Sly and the Family Stone, David Bowie, The Guess Who, Alice Cooper, Electric Light Orchestra, Pink FLoyd, Genesis (with and without Peter Gabriel), Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, Joan Armatrading, Ravi Shankar, PFM, Roxy Music....
...and a whole bunch more I can't remember now. But that Zappa concert was right up there with the best of the best.

The thing about Zappa was he couldn't resist recording and publishing pretty much everything that came into his head. When he was good, he was VERY good -- Hot Rats and Overnight Sensation and Apostrophe are good examples of that. But when he was bad, he was VERY bad. I bought Weasels Ripped my Flesh and Burnt Weenie Sandwich and regretted both decisions heartily. One night in a fit of disgust I frisbeed both of them off the balcony of my apartment far far into the night. I derived enormous satisfaction from that act, I must admit. Those two albums (and many more) should never have seen the light of day. He released over fifty albums. Might have been sixty, actually. There is no way ANY musician can release fifty albums of good music. Not even The Beatles pulled that off.

The first time I saw Pink Floyd was when they were doing the Dark Side of the Moon tour. I also saw the Wish You Were Here tour, the Animals tour, and The Wall tour.
All were great shows, but the Dark Side of the Moon show was the winner.

I have to disagree with you sir, Weasels ripped my Flesh is a downright brilliant album. He has avante-garde jazz interpretations with very strange time signatures, to a classic song "Toads of the Short Forest" which he made in 64 although it sounded different then, the album closer I love the noise piece. I saw Zappa Plays Zappa a few months ago, and it was by far the best concert Ive ever been to and Ive been to many many concerts. The musicians assembled there were so incredible

Sorry guys, but facts are facts.
An awful lot of what Zappa released is just noise. Junk. Garbage. I mentioned two albums which fit that category, but they were certainly not the only two.
The fact that he released a lot of sublime music doesn't alter the fact that he released a lot of poop as well. Every musician produces turkey cuts from time to time, it's just that most musicians recognize that not all their babies are beautiful and will hide the ugly ones from public view. To Zappa, there was no such thing as an ugly baby -- at least not if it was HIS baby. Basically, if a riff came from the mind of Frank, sooner or later that riff made its way to vinyl.
Much as I admire him (and he remains one of my favorite musicians to this day) I cannot deny his editorial judgment sucked. Or to be more accurate, it was nonexistent. Fortunately, he produced enough truly great stuff that his self-indulgence in publishing his lousy stuff can be forgiven. The solution is to not rush out and buy every Zappa album you come across just because it is a Zappa album. LISTEN to it before plunking down yer dollars and you'll save yourself some grief.
Happily, in these days of internet music one can do just that.

Heh! One of the few benefits of being in my fifties.
FreakQLibrium has seen most (if not all, and perhaps even more) of the same groups. He was attending concerts in Toronto at the same time I was attending them in Ottawa and Montreal, and no band who ever played Montreal didn't also play Toronto.
There were an awful lot of really good bands playing live back in those days, but I have no doubt there are still plenty of good groups to see these days, too. They just cost a HELL of a lot more money to see. Almost all the groups on my list cost five bucks or less to see, back then. I think the MOST I ever paid for a ticket was twenty bucks for Pink Floyd's "The Wall". Of course, in those days cigarettes were a buck a pack and a quarter ounce of killer Lebanese hash ran twenty five bucks.

Oh no I don’t believe it You say that you think that Weasels is crap I think you should check it again
Phred, i agree that a good amount of poop exists in the Zappa catalogue. I particularly dislike alot of the later synclavier stuff. But Weasels? Come on man. I think "Oh No" is one of the most sublimely beautiful of all Zappa songs, especially the interlude where the horns take the lead. Of course, not alot of Zappa songs are sublimely beautiful.
Oh no I don’t believe it You say that you think you know The meaning of love You say love is all we need You say With your love you can change All of the fools All of the hate I think you’re probably Out to lunch
Oh no I don’t believe it You say that you think you know The meaning of love Do you really think it can be told? You say that you really know I think You should check it again How can you say What you believe Will be the key to a World of love?
All your love - Will it save me? All your love - Will it save the world From what we can’t understand Oh no I don’t believe it
I'm also really jealous that you saw Mahvishnu Orchestra. What lineup was it, tell me more. Oh, and the genesis too, what tour was that? Not to mention Crimson, Floyd, etc...Lucky you. At least Crimson is one band I may still get a chance to see live.

Hey, out of curiosity since you said that you went to a lot of shows in Montreal and you said that you saw the Animals tour, did you attend that Animals show in Montreal, with Roger infamously spitting in the face of the fan?
The Animals concert I went to was in Montreal in 1977 at the Olympic Stadium. I don't recall seeing Roger or anyone else spit in the face of a fan, though. Not saying it didn't happen, just that if it did happen I missed it.
There were some pretty deranged people there, though, so I can believe some stoner might try to climb onto the stage and be an asshole. In those days anyone who wanted to sit on the playing field a la Woodstock could do so. We always got there early -- not so we could sit close to the stage, though. Sitting right up front makes no sense because you can't see dick all (the stage being so high) and the sound is shitty, too. We figured out very early in our concert going career that the best SOUND is always to be found right in front of the guys running the mixing board, so we would always camp out there unless there was assigned seating.
So maybe I was too far back to see this spitting business. Or maybe it was at a different show -- I know that after the Dark Side of the Moon Tour PF would often do more than a single show in big cities like Montreal to accomodate the crowd. I honestly can't remember now whether the Animals tour had two shows in Montreal or one, and which one I attended if there were in fact two.
I just remember it was a great show -- though not as great as the Dark Side of the Moon show.
I am now going to say something that will strike many as sacrilegious -- I preferred the Jethro Tull "Thick as a Brick" concert in Ottawa to the "Animals" tour in Montreal. Better sound, better venue, better show all around. Of course, at the Tull concert, they first played an extended version of "Thick as a Brick", then took about a five minute break, then played all of "Aqualung", then took another short break, then played a whole bunch of selected cuts from "Stand Up", "This Was", and "Benefit". So there was close to three and a half hours of sublimely beautiful music to be enjoyed, with a sound system of crystalline clarity. Not a hint of distortion the whole show, not a false note struck. Perfection, perfection. Ah, my lovelies... 'twas a night to remember for sure.
I attended the concert with two friends, and we had all partaken of some righteous orange double barrel. By the time we made it to our seats, we were deep in the grip of what is now widely recognized as the finest and most potent LSD available in the early Seventies. Just as the lights were going down, one of my friends seized my arm, thrust his acid-flushed grinning face close to mine and shouted, "I hope they aren't TOO good!" When the lights came up after the first set (before they started playing "Aqualung"), he grabbed my arm again, and with a look of utmost despair, wailed, "They ARE too good!" He then buried his head in his arms and started giggling uncontrollably. I, of course, ignored him and popped another stick of Adam's Sour Strawberry gum into my mouth, as the previous one had long since disintegrated into a pebbly froth and been spit out all over my platform soled boots. The infamous "acid mouth" effect.
Good times, good times.
Come to think of it, I might even have to say I preferred that Tull show to even the Dark Side of the Moon show in Montreal, too. Tough call. I will say that if I were given the opportunity to see one or the other show repeated today exactly the way it was performed back then (like through the magic of a time machine or something), I'd choose the Jethro Tull concert.

Haha, it seems blasphemy to me to say any Tull show was better than the Animals tour haha......but I was not there so I cannot say for sure.
I have many bootlegs from the Animals tour and not a single multiple city bootleg which leads me to bewlieve that there was only one show in Montreal. What happened was that Roger goaded an annoying fan onto stage and then he spit right in the fans face. This was the entire inspiration for the Wall album. That incident. The isolation that Roger felt from the crowd and that he had to go as far as to spit in some guys face. It's one of the most important moments in Pink Floyd history.
I'll upload a track from that concert that you will recognize if you were there. Please listen to it and let me know if it is familiar.
I hope that you know how to play .flac files because I do not have a .mp3 format file of this.
