I dunno about meaning, but I used to have flying dreams a lot as a child, however, it was less like "swimming" and more like flapping a lot
Dreams are fascinating...

I go through phases where I dream ever night and remember most of them, then i go through phases where i forget what dreaming is even like.
Anyway, Ive often had *falling* dreams and stuff.
As for my latest lucid dreams which were a few months ago, I gained the ability to fly at will, just by reminding myself that I am actualy dreaming, but It can be real if I want it to .

I know what you mean about swimming through air. I have to kick my arms and legs up and down like I'm flappin em lol to get in the air. Once you're up there though, you can do whatever lol I love those flying dreams. People are just like, "How the hell are you doing that?" and I'm just like, "Like this..."

Yeah I always ask people when they talk about flying dreams and nobody ever has to flap themselves into the air. It feels so real though, like if I go up over a house I see the world as if I were really up there. I feel the wind, and I even feel that sense of, "holy shit I'm 50 feet in the air". I usually have to glide from there though, I can't maintain the same height for long and I have to flap to go higher.

when flying in my dreams, I usually just have to kind of push off and I start climbing. Controlling the speed and direction (especially if going fast) can be difficult at times, but I can usually get pretty high and be ok until I have to go back down. It doesn't feel like swimming, there is no kicking or real effort involved.
