coir and monotub

I wanna use coir as a bulk sub with a monotub setup. when preparing the coco and spawn into the monotub I read that coir needs to be incubated until fully colonized. I was thinking that I could use the top tub inthe (tit) and just cut 4 top holes at the top for airexchange then set it back up as a incubator and wait till its fully colonized. once thats happens take it out and cut the rest of the 4 four holes.
or should I just make the mono tub set up, mix the spawn and the sub and cover and wait till it is colonzed without incubating. then case when its fully colonized

Coco is best used to make warm drinks on cold winter days. You can't use it as a substrate.
Apparently it also makes you daft enough to bump your own thread after less than 2 hours. Shame!

Are you using the coir for casing or as a medium to mix with the substrate? You shouldn't mix it with the substrate because coir has no nutritional value, therefore reducing your yields in the long run. Spawn it to something like hpoo or straw, something with more nutrients...coir is used for casing the substrate.

coir has nutritional values close to the same as hpoo...
plus... You find coconuts in tropical places... you find cubes in tropical places... you don't find horses there, you don't find straw there :P
anyways, yes, coir is nutrional, almost as much as hpoo.

no.
its nice if you can. but most obviously dont have an incubator big enough to accomodate a whole monotub.
i put it in a big black lawn garbage bag and wrap in towels. the colonizing substrate produces a little heat on its own, much like a colonizing poo substrate. the towels provide some insulation to lock that heat in. find a warm place in your house if possible, if not, no biggie. when you switch to fruiting mode, obviously remove towels and garbage bag, and start introducing FAE, and that gives the few degrees of temp drop to help trigger pinning, and you're good to go.

when addding fae to the mono tub do you mean manually fanning or just placing in the direction of the poly fill holes

manually... i take a paper plate or something and use that... mist then fan for a few seconds. i know monotubs are supposed to be 'automated' and really they are, so if you're not around a day or two no biggie, but i find that a little manual intervention helps... especially at that all crucial pinning stage

After may attempts with mono / Dbl tubing with coir, I hate to say it but it is a one flush wonder.
I like to add critter country and some powered oyster shells to the mix. Works better then coir alone.

If you can... use hpoo, you will be ALOT happier
