lolocaust - stay or go?

A while ago this smiley has been added to the Shroomery Smiley Panel, so that people can use it to embellish their post:

In relation to the depicted scene the smiley is named lolocaust, as an acronym of lol and holocaust. What's your opinion?

The pink triangle was used by the nazis to identify homosexuals in the concentration and death camps, there has never been issue with that smiley. While the gay pride lobby has reversed the triangle and used it as a pride symbol, it's original roots are valid for consideration in context of the lolocaust smiley.

I find it kind of funny but don't really care whether it stays or goes. I can definitely see why someone would be offended by it though.

Lolocaust is better defined as a word you would use after witnessing something "over funny" or something..
Or when a person would of abused the word lol to an extent where it has no meaning.

And how much gay pride do you see on the Shroomery?
Smileys like aren't exactly used to celebrate diversity, but rather at the shroomery are icons of the opposite.
I'm just making this thread as a member (not a mod) to see where we all stand because lately i'm not sure anymore

Can't this option "Such things should be encouraged in the name of Freedom Of Speech" just say "Freedom of Speech" instead of making me feel guilty by throwing in the "Such things should be encouraged" part?

Why would that make you guilty? It all depends on what kind of "such things" you consider lolocaust to belong to. The position is the one of maximal agreement, which is encouraging it because stating "freedom of speech" means you personally step up to justify it.
On the other side of the spectrum "I can't believe it" shows equal bias because many people might see it coming, even if they firmly reject it.

Right.
I have the right to say anything I want, not because it's guaranteed in a 300 year old piece of paper. It's guaranteed because I have the mental capacity to form and interpret symbolic words and mouth noises. Words, or in the case a smiley, are not offensive, it's the ideas behind them that are.
Leave it be and if you're offended by anything on this board scroll past it and if you're offended by something in real life, say your mind or leave it be and move the fuck on.
It's freedom of speech until someone disagrees with you.

Where we all stand? What happened to individual ideas?
What I don't stand for is censorship based on individual morals.

Well I don't encourage such things I do see it as Free Speech. So by forcing me to vote for free speech your poll is also forcing me to say I encourage racist emoticons which is untrue.

Well I'm the only one so far who's voted for:
"I don't like it, but I don't care if it stays or goes"
Which is to say I agree with the first choice re freedom of speech, but ultimately think it's kinda lame and cheap. What can I say, it didn't make me laugh.
Hell it could be a Smiley of Hitler and George W skull-fucking Mother Teresa and I'd say the same.
Boy do I feel apathetic today.

What I meant with "where do we all stand" is ofcourse on an individual basis, because we ofcourse are very divided, which is diversity, which is in my view a good thing. The Shroomery would be boring without end if we all thought the same way.

OK, you're right, point taken, in this context it is biased. Unfortunately I have no options to change the poll. *note to self: 8 options next time*

I dont think getting rid of it, enforcing censorship here of all places, is the best thing to do. Free speech is crucial here... At the same time, i wouldn't encourage this kind of humour to be mass produced among the gremlins. But i also couldn't care less if it was.
Im sure many others probably agree with this viewpoint, but at the same time im sure a lot of these people wouldn't take the same liberal "freedom of speech" stance with a :septemberloleventh: type smiley.
