ok now....Q. why is it that they say not to dry mushrooms in the oven, hair dryer, etc... A. Heat damages psilocybin...

ok now that we agree on that...

and they say that in order to make shroom tea, just drop mushies and/or cakes in to boiling water...etc...

now is it just me or isnt boiling water considered "heat"....
i personally have never had/made shroom tea...so im not doubting the sincerity of it, it just seems kind of strange to me...

thoughts..???

Perhaps it's because psilocybin/Psilocin is water-soluble, and when force-dried (with heat) a percentage of the psilo/psilo is forced out also. And when fan-dried, the psilo/psilo content is allowed to reside in the mushroom.

As for mushroom tea, when boiled, mushrooms release the psilo/psilo is extracted from the mushies, and redistributed in the water.
Just a guess, though. I'm not a scientist.

paco kinda hit it i think-
dry heat will send the toxins evaporating with the moisture you are drying out
when you boil them the water only escapes and the toxins are water soluble and it stays in-
although i use a dehydrator i dry all my shrooms and it gets them cracker dry-
i can tell a difference in fresh shrooms and dried shrooms-
but i cant tell a difference when i fan dry and use my dehydrator-

i dont know from experience... all i know is the opionion on this seems to be shifting... if you would read the forums a few years back most everyone would suggest against tea but now almost everyone is saying its ok and even more potent... i dont know why it works or if it breaks down massive amounts... but a friend of a friend has collected a fair number of aborts and since there so damn hard to clean anyway , he plans on trying some tea.....
