first i hope this is in the right part of the forum..if not lemme know i will move it
Ok, This is my 3rd fruiting Chamber ive made n i think i finely got it right lol...The other 2...lets not talk about them k...I made this one a few weeks ago and in one of my posts i had a few pictures of it showing my casing, well stormhalter messaged me asking me how i built it because he wanted to make one like mine. Since i didnt have any progress pictures I helped him walk threw what i bought and how i built it and he has been taking progress pictures of his build so the pictures are courtesy of Stormhalter and the FC is courtesy of myself.
First things first I LOVE walmart...
Things you need: (walmart section) 1x 18" Flourescent light fixture ($10) 1x 4 ft. universal washer hose ($13) 1x Tube of silicone ($2.97) 1x 30 Gal. Rubbermaid Roughneck ($10) 1x Bag of Polyfill ($3)
(home depot) 1x 28" PVC pipe ($1.39) 2x 3/4" PVC male end ($0.33) 1x 3/4" PVC slip cap ($0.31) 4x 1/2" PVC couplers ($0.16) drill paddle bit and or anything that will drill a 3/4" hole: ?
(lowes) 1x 18" Ecolux 15w flourescent bulb ($8) _____________________________________ TOTAL: $50
This is a picture of the Washerhose, couplers, male adapter & slip cap.
Picture of the Tub.
Picture of the cool mist.
So first you take the cool mist apart and drill out a hole on the front side to put in the 3/4" male adapter.
Once thats done just add some silicone to seal it up around the adapter nice than put some ducttape over the original hole on the top.
Next goto the tub and where the handles are u want to make a hole 4 inches from the top of the tub.
Than finish drilling it out.
Do this on both ends of the tub.
Now you need to take that peice of pvc and start drilling about 14 small holes in it (7 times total just go all the way threw the pvc). Drill bit size is 11/60
in this we spaced the holes about 3 1/2 inchs apart
now that the drilling is done put the pvc threw the holes in the tub
on one end (whichever u want to not use) put the end cap on that end of the pvc and silicone around the pcv and plastic tub
next flip that biotch around and put on the male adapter and silicone it
now for the bottom of the tub 3"'s from the bottom u need to drill 2 holes on the front and 2 on the back, make sure its just big enuff to fit the couplers in the holes.
you can than put some polyfill into the couplers to add some security from contams if u like. also make sure u silicone around the cupplers to make a nice seal.
now for the lid. i just mounted mine on the inside of the tub with the screws it came with. some ppl worry about high humidity and electric but it hasnt went crazy on me...yet so if u dont like this part just cut a hole in the top n get some plexiglass
now cut a small part out of the lid on the corner to fit the cord in so the lid closes nice.
by now the silicone should be set up enough to be able to attach the washer hose go ahead n slap that bitch on and your pretty much done.
FINISHED product:
also if u want for the light to go get a timer from walmart so u dont have to turn it on and off on your own.
Me and stormhalter hope this helps some people out. And thank you stormhalter for giving me the pictures to make this.
P.S. one thing i forgot about in this is the doorframe sealing tape from homedepot for making sure the lid has a nice tight seal. (will add it shortly)

more than a few people have commented that this is the wrong humidifier, which if you want a "True" cool mist humidifer the impeller style this is true, but the one i have works fine for me. (i did buy the wrong one though just read "cool mist")
with that said this is the type of humidifer you want:

As for the humidifier, I'm not sure if it's a wick or not. Opening up I saw an impeller and in the back is an air filter. Unk3mpt says it's a wick though, not a filter.
Not sure. Works though, and I'm in a high humidity area as well.
Also, the light is completely plastic -- no glass and metal. Should hold up better in the humidity.

weather stripping works better on the underside of the lid, not on the rim of the tub like that... just thought i'd throw my 2 cents in.

Wow, that's quite a project you undertook! Great work, I love all the pictures, very detailed. What made you go with this setup instead of a basic monotub?

The construction looks nice, but I see two problems.
1. That's a wick type humidifier, not a real cool mist. It won't produce enough humidity. It claims 1 gallon output per day, I don't think that will cut it.
2. There should probably be a drainage hole to take care of the condensation that will build up in the hose. That might not be a problem as long as it drains back into the humidifier alright.

1. It has perlite on the bottom wich will be plenty for humidity.
2. It will drain... into the bloody perlight.
Everytime I see one of your posts its just some random stuff you think up without thinking about it for very long, such as light makes mushrooms poisonous and I will go to hell for touching poop and shopping carts.

1. Then why use a humidifier at all? Just for the FAE I suppose, but I would imagine that is way overkill and a air pump would be better.
2. You don't want it dripping onto your cakes or casings.
3. It's called sarcasm, first learn to recognize it and then learn to deal with it.
You won't go to hell for touching poop, but "nothing unclean may enter the kingdom of God," so you aren't going to get into heaven if you keep needlessly playing with poop like some people here who seem to have a fecal fetish.
You also shouldn't minimize the dangers of photocybin poisoning.
