If you plan on doing many casings I would go with the martha. if you are going to do one or two large casings a mono would be much easier. As for which works better - I think there are better people to ask here than I. I just dont see a martha being worth all the trouble if your only going to do a casing or 2.

^^^ you got it pretty much right.

its not that one works better than the other, both can work fabulously when done right. depends on your situation, how and what you want to grow, how much time, money, and physical space you have to invest.

marthas give more grow space obviously and are more flexible, but can be a bigger investment and more work/tweaking to set up properly. if you plan on doing lots of trays, having things at different stages, several different strains, etc, its the way to go.

monotubs are super simple to work with, are about as equally "automated" but obviously you need a tub per grow (you can re-use them of course, i just mean that one tub = one grow). a single tub can pull a considerable yield in a small inconspicuous space. you might consider them more "scalable" too, because if you decide you want more, just put together a tub or two. if you should be lucky enough to have the problem of a totally filled martha, its not quite so simple to just throw together a second one...

Bear in mind, if you plan to fruit pf cakes, you'll want a perlite humidified terrarium. Mini-greenhouses are great for cased bulk substrates that thrive in the 80 to 90 percent humidity range, but pf type cakes require nearly 100% humidity, so a greenhouse setup is not adequate. If you tried to get 100% humidity in a martha/greenhouse, you'd flood your room with all the condensation.

IME marthas need a lot of TLC, they can fluctuate easily and you will have issues with casing drying out and having to mist all the time. i was spending too much time with it, so i switched to monotubs.
