Storage time with coir???

Hey again i just got done pasturizing my coir and making my trays... I was wondering how long i could store some pre pasturized coir with the coffee grounds already in it for? This was my plan i was going to get a plastic garbage can clean it out with alc. Then store the coir substrate in it has anyone done this or know the upsides and the downsides of this. The only thing i could come up with is it might lose water content or get moldy but i remember reading a thread from creamcorn that said he left some coir laying out for like 2 weeks and nothing happened... any help will help thanks a lot

The coffee grinds will mold if the coir doesn't. In fact, coffee grinds will mold in a matter of days if stored wet in a plastic bag. You need to use it right away. Just toss out any leftovers and make a fresh batch next time. Coir and coffee grinds are excellent medium for your houseplants. With practice, you'll learn to make just the right amount. RR

I am going to be doing a lot of trays shortly do you think it would be safe to leave in garbage can overnite so its already to go the next day already pasturized and ready to mix in with spawn?

i left it out purposely to see if i could grow some contams and how quickly they would appear... it didn't mold but it got stinky, a sign of bacteria... and that will cause it to not colonize. it would probably get the bacteria even quicker if sealed because of lack of air. it also didn't have any coffee grounds in it... coffee grounds will mold very quickly.
it really is best to pasteurize just what you're going to use and use it fresh. you might get away with storing some but any time you save in pre-pastuerizing stuff, you're going to lose (and then some) if things go south on you. the moisture content issue you already pointed out is an important one, incorrect moisture content means slower colonization, and if its dry, it won't be able to supply as much to your fruits meaning lower yields in the end.
its up to you, you might get away with storing some... i don't actually suggest that

i don't see harm in leaving it overnight. in fact, its a good idea if you're preparing a lot of it to make sure its all cooled down completely.
