Soriano to ChiSox...Done Deal?

They're reporting on the radio here in Chicago that this is for all intents and purposes a done deal. Of course, the radio is ALWAYS screwy with crazy stories, so who knows. But its from a senior baseball dude, soooooo...
But yeah...Soriano to the White Sox for Reliever/Starter Brandon McCarthy. McCarthy is a good pitcher, but he's more a starter than reliever, and the Sox really have no room in the rotation for him. I'm not sure why they wouldnt keep in the bullpen though. They need another hole in their pen like David Wells needs a doughnut.
I dont understand this from the White Sox point of view at ALL. Unless its just to keep Soriano from the Tigers, but who makes a major trade just for that. They really dont have room for him the outfield. Whos going to sit? Pods? No way, thats your leadoff guy. Dye? Nobody is going to sit the World Series MVP and one of your biggest sluggers for Soriano. And Soriano can barely play LF, they arent going to put him at center.
I guess they could move him back to 2B. But can he get back into the swing of things at second that fast? This would be like spring training for him. He'd need a month to get used tot aking ground balls again, and its almost August!
WTF?

I hadn't heard anything about this yet and it makes no sense really. They wouldn't put him at second either. Iguchi plays there and he is damn good there. The only place that I could see him taking over is shortstop and I don't know if he can play shortstop.
However, I just thought of this. Pods played center field when he played at Milwaukee. If they move him over to center then they could put Soriano in left. But Pods is nowhere near as good at center as Brian Anderson is.
Either way, I don't like this at all. McCarthy is too good to be trading away and offense isn't our probelm, it's pitching. If we were going to trade any pitchers away, I'd like to get rid of Vasquez and put McCarthy in his place in the rotation.
Man, I hope that this isn't true.

Ok, I feel better now. I can't find any kind of article saying that this deal has been done.
Although, we did pick up Sandy Alomar and a reliever from Kansas City that I don't know anything about.

Yeah, it really doesnt make any sense to me. I'm a Cubs fan, and this sounds like the kind of thing Hendry would pull off. Trading a Young Stud Pitcher for an older slugger with an attitude problem.
PS. Sandy Alomar still plays ball?

That shit's crazy... Eitherway I hope that if it does go through it doesn't mess up his good season at bat, and hopefully they'll put him in a different spot in the lineup so he can get more RBI's.

Yeah, Alomar was playing for the Dodgers.
If they make this trade, they better get Soriano to sign a contract extension first because if they don't they will end up trading McCarthy away for temporary use of Soriano because he is a free agent after this year.

Good, now I am hearing that the Sox don't want to get rid of McCarthy....that makes a lot more sense.
