My girlfriend and I rode out to the national forest near by, and split about an 1/8 of some home grown shroomies.
We had fun hiking around, and found a nice swimming hole on a little sand beach. The army of bugs were moving around in strange patterns, and after a while of building up the courage to enter the water (WATER IS SO CRAZY), we were swimming around and freaking out, when out of the woods rode a company of people on horses! Within seconds we were surrounded by loud rednecks taking their horses to drink and asking us seemingly millions of questions! It was crazy! I mean imagine it – you're in a swimming hole, in the middle of the forest, freaking out and laughing hysterically, next thing you know, there is a huge horse riding up over the sand and into the water right next to you! We almost lost it right here! I just wanted to start screaming and run away – but before we could leave, another distraction:
Almost instantaneously, about a 1/4 mile down the creek we hear people screaming "CAW CAW CAW CAW", we look to the sound, and then see three or four boys jump off a 20ft bluff into the bayou, all the time screaming “CAW CAW CAW!” TRIPPING THIS HARD THIS WAS THE CRAZIEST SHIT EVER!
We threw our clothes on best we could, trying to make a hasty retreat - but first we had to pass through about 10 horses! ALL THE HORSES KNEW WE WERE TRIPPING! haha it was crazy, they were all staring at us, in their strong and proud horse way. . .
We continued down the trail at almost a sprint, at which point the woods (which we have hiked in many times) became a strange new maze-like world. Trying franticly to get away from the loud redneck horse camp that just materialized in our swimming hole, we decided to leave the trail and hike down to another creek.
It took a good 10 minutes of convincing my girlfriend that I knew where we were going. We had to climb over large boulders and jungle-like growth that blocked out all the scenery except the boulders we were climbing on and the dark water below - it was FREAKING SCARY!!!!
But after the scary part, we found what I now like to call our secret forest grotto. We found a rock beach, hidden from the trail by 40ft clay bluffs, and a nice little babbling brook to swim in. The brook was shady and mossy, and felt like a magical fantasy world - like we were water goddesses doing whatever it is goddesses do all day.
We spent some time here, looking at the scenery, bathing in the brook, and smoking ganja to calm ourselves down from the crazy horse camp experience.
After a while (which seemed like an eternity) we decided to explore a little farther. We could see a sand beach just around the bend. We had to wade through some water first and when we got to the beach, we saw a cotton mouth (very poisonous snake) leave the beach and start swimming. I told my girlfriend to watch out, bc if one of us got bit by a snake like that it would be VERY BAD NEWS. Suddenly and mysteriously my feet started burning very intensely (there must've been sand flies or something biting me) so we decided to go back to our secret rock beach.
BUT THE SNAKE WAS BLOCKING OUR PATH!! (well, it really wasn't, it was pretty far away from us and trying to get away - but all we could see was the snake!) It looked about 8 ft long and just watched us. This may have been the trippiest moment of my life. Everything died away except the snake. It's all I could see, all we could see. We stood in the water at a stalemate for a very long time.
Finally, I got bored and said fuck it. This snake isn't going to hurt us, and just took off. My girlfriend followed, bc she was too scared to be alone with the snake. haha. shrooms are crazy.
Back to the safety of the secret rock beach. Well. Sort of. It seems my warnings about the snake had really tripped by gf out, and at this point, she thought my feet were burning bc I got bit by a snake, but that I didn't tell her because I didn't want to freak her out. So after a few minutes of crying and thinking I was dying, I assured her I was okay, and then there was a few minutes of crying again "I'm so glad you're okay" and although it was traumatic in that trippy sort of way, it was still really fun to see how much she loved me !
We stayed in the sanctuary of our secret grotto for the rest of the trip. It seemed like time stood still in our secret forest grotto.
It seriously was the most refreshing, fun, and crazy trip I've ever been on.
I can't wait to do it again!
