Can you please ID these for me?
I found these mushrooms in a residential lawn (the only lawn that had them on the block) in Rockland County NY.
The caps are off-white, kind of bell shaped (see picture). It bruises brown, and it's smooth and moist, and it smells mushroomy like the ones in the store.
The gills are free and brown.
The spore print is brown.
The stem is white, about 5-6 inches long, (sorry I don't know my metric) and they splinter easily.
Pictures:

Thanks in advance.

Looks more like a Conocybe. Perhaps Conocybe lactea. Should be considered poisonous.

It's a Conocybe. To get accurately to species would require a microscope.
No Conocybes should be eaten. At least one species has the same deadly toxins as the deadly Amanita species.
Happy mushrooming!

The active species of Conocybe are rather rare, unlike the immensely common Conocybe lactea. These specimens have a cap which is darker brown than most of the C. lactea I have found, so they may not be... However they look similar enough to deter me, as some Conocybes are suspected to contain deadly poisonous toxins. Unfortunately, from the photos of C. cyanopus I have viewed, they look strikingly similar to C. lactea. Best to avoid the genus if your interest in mycology has just recently sparked.
