Night runs versus Day runs
    #5892573 - 07/23/06 09:53 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

Because of my new schedule, night runs are almost essential to me, and while I do enjoy them, my only real option is to run on the concrete, which can seriously mess up the legs

On the other hand, I sunburn quite easily, and I always seem to have a tougher time running during the day then the night

Either way my diet's hilariously bad so it doesn't really matter when I do it

I think the earlier the better.

You may consider sprinting, too, which would cut down the time necessary to complete the workout. I find that most people run the wrong way anyways. It's not good to not actually run hard, supporting your weight and trying to glide across the ground. What is the point in that? You could do a few sprints and have you heart rate elevated for the entire time inbetween and afterwards. Same thing, better muscle recruitment, funner, etc etc.

I like to walk/run until I can sprint.

get better running shoes, because I seen 80 yr old men in top condition do constant concrete running, although a track would be better

I'm horrible at sprinting, and I always tend to bring my weight down far too hard for it to be effective

Maybe low to moderate impact cardio would suit you best at longer intervals.

If not, it's one of the best ideas to do short sprints. Jog around the block and give er a few bursts of speed. Best way to get in shape, but nothing's wrong with low impact. As long as you're burning cals and getting your heart rate going.
