Naked Cakes vs. Casings

What kind of difference in yield is to be expected between plain cakes and those same cakes if they had been cased? I've done naked cakes with a perlite setup before. It was easy as hell and produced a good yield, and that was without dunking or anything. It kindof made me wonder if I even want to bother with casings. What kind of yield could I expect from 12 half pint PF cakes of B+ without casing? What would be the yield of those same cakes if I cased them?

i was just surfing though the search section earlier this week and i found some good posts dealing with cakes vs. casing ... Just not sure if there ones for b+

If they were my cakes, i would yield approximately 240 shrooms (20 shrooms per cakes/first flush). If I had cased them I would yield 840 shrooms (70 shrooms per casing/first flush). If you already fruited cakes, you can try to bother with casings...

how can you know exactly how many shrooms you will yeild-LOL
in that case i disagree with tom-lol-with b+
you will yeild 40 shrooms per flush

My remark is only based on my experience. I can really predict the average number of shrooms I'm going to harvest. I always keep the same growing conditions for my shrooms, and it turns out that I always have the same yields (even if some strain produces more/less). True, that can only apply to me. But I just wanted to make a comparaison between casings/cakes. :smile:

B+ is a strain I have to test, but no one never offered me to trade it. Anyway, I'll get one in the future. 40 shrooms for a cake seems to be a lot !
