um the rice looks like it's growing strong, but there is some pieces of bark on the casing that grow what it looks like to be cobweb. i PC's the casing for 1 hour and the containers are kept with aluminum foil ovr the top with some small holes....heated by a bin with some orange hydroballs, the bin is on top of a heating mat at which I measure around 80 - 82 degrees.
your comments are much appreciated.. especially if you are very experienced on this....

peroxide.
straight from the bottle. with a misting trigger.
spray the whole casing, not just the spots.
you have a battle on your hands.

straight peroxide will kill the cobweb. The reason you got cobweb is because you sterlized your casing.
never sterilize your casing, you kill off the helpful bacteria and micro-organisms.
now you know!

That looks like too small of a tray to worry about peroxiding. Just toss it.

Maybe he's not such a massive grower as you are.
And peroxiding a casing takes 5 seconds, that isn't exactly a worry.

I wouldn't worry about the time required, just the chance of it spreading. Depends on his situation I guess, and how important that tray is vs the success of his future grows.
If you've had cobweb problems before or if that's your only tray, I would peroxide it. If that's the first cobweb you've had or you have a bunch of other trays then toss it quick!

20 trays of cobweb equal better air exchange and a bottle of peroxide, not tossing them.

If you aren't willing to toss one PF cake sized tray for the sake of your current and future grows then that's probably what you'll end up with.
You can, of course beat the cobweb, but it's a battle. At the end, even though you'll almost certainly win, you'll probably wish you had avoided it to begin with. Kind of like the Iraq situation.
I'm also assuming that he has about 10 more trays that size, since it would be kind of odd to grow just one small tray.

It's cobweb, not ebola.
1 small tray like that says to me he's inexperienced and probably isn't trying to grow much right now.

Spraying it with 3% peroxide, then upping FAE should do away with cobweb. It only thrives in moist stagnant still air.

Hey can I also give you a pointer, see how you can see right through
your tray like that? the fruit Body known as the P. Cubensis of the
Fungi Kingdom uses the light to trigger pinning and with the light
able to shine threw the sides like that you will get the fruit bodies
growing from the sides of your tray, under the casing layer, you want
them on the top, wraping ductape around it or anything that will not
let light threw there would do you some good
Good luck, Be safe

Good advice. 3% peroxide straight from the bottle to your mister will kill cobweb mold dead. You may have to repeat the treatment a few times as it's normal for it to come back a bit after just one or two sprayings.
We throw away projects with green molds, but cobweb mold is very easy to kill with peroxide, and easy to prevent with good fresh air exchange. As said previously, spray the entire surface, not just what you see because cobweb spreads by breaking off tiny fragments of mycelium and sending them airborne to spread. Spray the entire surface to take care of what is still too small to see.
Also, as said already, don't sterilize casing material. It should be pasteurized only for best results. You'll still get cobweb sometimes with pasteurized casing, but your chances of getting the green molds will be much less. Also, according to Paul Stamets, there is evidence that the beneficial bacteria that survive pasteurization will help stimulate a better pinset. My experiments have confirmed this as well. RR

I had 5 large casings that all got cobweb over the weekend, I misted all of them with peroxide and increased fae for them the next day all the cobweb was gone. I just checked up on them and i see nothing but healthy myc growing now.. this was on pre-pasturized hpoo.
thanks RR
(side note: my sterilized coir casings are flying by the large poo ones. But they are smaller and much lower ratio of spawn to coir.}
