OK, I m probably 3-4 days from birthing my cakes. what is the cheapest way. I have an aquarium and heater. I was thinking of the two liter bottle technique?? I want the cheapest and easiest. I have looked everywhere, but want you guys opinion.
I live in a rural area. So I want to be able to get everything at Wal-Mart.
Thanks!!

go to walmart get a rubber maid tub big enough to fit all your cakes. 7 dollars. get a small fish tank pump for fresh air exchange3.96. 5 foot pc of fish tank hose 1.99. also you fish pump comes with a check valve which has a filter in it and helps with keeping contams out. air stone set of 2 for 99 cents. buy a bag of perlite. 3.99. rinse perlite put in the bottom of tub after you wash the tub good. then mist the perlits but not so much that there is water in the bottom you just want the perlite to be damp moist.then what i do is drill a hole in the tub the size of a fish tank pump hose and stick the hose through the hole (make sur it is a snug fit. i took a empty6 snaple bottle and put it in a corner take the hose and put a air stone onthe end and stick it in the snapple bottle so it is at the bottom. fill the snapple bottle with 1/2 h2o2 and 14 water. this will help humidity and act as a fresh air exchange. then i drill a hole on the other side of the tub and put micro pore tape on it for the co2 to escape.then put your cakes in after you dunk and roll or what ever you want. i put mine near a window that gets nice bright indirect light. but you can get a fluro if you want or evena night light cheap. thx good luck

you can buy a see through, storage tub(tupperware???, someone find the correct name please), these dont cost much. and just buy some perlite. soak the perlite(then drain) and fill the bottom of the storage container, with 2 inches of perlite. put the cakes on foil(or something to sperate the perlite and cakes). then fan 3 times a day from then on. then in around +2- weeks, you should have fruits.
from here i would suggest you print a few caps, to become self suffient(really isn't hard)
p.s i recomend dunking as it helps the flushes(can double yeild) and also double end case; put a layer of soaked and drained vermiculite on the top and bottom of the cakes.
keep the temp from birthing at around 70-75f.

Both replies are perfect. I have a question of my own though- does the h202 water turn into 02 with the air pump in it? Right now I have an air pump in mine but its not in any water, so could I be getting more 02 in there like that?

it provides a fresh air exchange but the h2o2 helps prevent contam as opposed to just water. the pump pumps in the o2

As I had thought.
One more.
The air stone- does this produce 02? How long before they die? You just put them in some water and they bubble, correct?

nope an air stone hooks up to the hose and it bubbles because the air comes out of it and its under water. you dont have to worrie about more o2 you should be fine with that set up. good luck

if you want to go REALLY cheap, pick up some aluminum foil baking pans. the biggest ones they got, for like a turkey or something... ones with tall plastic lids. these come in 2-packs around here for about $2.50. like so, you can fit 3 or 4 cakes in this guy:

for humidity, take some paper towels, line the bottom, and spray them down with a spray bottle so they're damp. put in fresh paper towels between flushes.
for fresh air, just take the lid off the whole thing once or twice a day. again use your spray bottle to lightly mist after having aired it out for a minute or so (point it sort of "over" the pan, so the fine mist falls in)
boom. makeshift FC for a couple bucks. if you don't have a spray bottle, get one either from the cosmetics section at a store, the gardening section, or at a hardware store. between the pans, paper towels, and spray bottle, you'll spend about 6 bucks. and it works. i use that sorta setup at times for an "isolation chamber"... when i feel a cake is sketchy for one reason or another (possibly contam'd or prone to be soon) i quarantine it in there. they grow juuust fine. if you're looking for cheap skip all that fancy stuff.

The cheapest way is to just get some perlite and any sort of (semi)sealed container.
You don't need an air pump, or an air stone, or anything else. Peroxide can be helpful, but it's not required.
And I wouldn't use wet paper towels. They are a good source for contams and they don't have the high surface area required to generate the proper humidity like perlite does.

- 10 gallon aquarium - Bag of perlite - water (in the perlite) - Garbage bag (lid) - Hand (for fanning)
You can get it all at Walmart for cheap and it's reusable virtually forever.

Yo, try cutting off the top of a milk jug and using a trash bag (whoops, trash bag not band) a large rubberband to seal it off.

Do I need to dunk them in water?
P.S.
I also see varying info. on whether to remove them from the jar or leave them in the jar??
I have cambodian and B+
I have my Perlite and rubbermaid tub.
God, I am so confused now.
