Subject of Cleanness

Alright in a couple of days I will start growing using two methods. One with Verm and BRF and the other with Cracked Corn. Tomorrow I will get at least 6 (1/2 pint) Jars. Even though they will be brand new, I should wash them a couple of times right. I read alot about growing and the subject of cleaning each material you use is sufficient for succeeding. Right anyways, can any one give me any other cleaning tips and what kind of cleaning materials I should use so that my fungi will be flawless? Jars need to be clean, needle needs to be sterilized, fresh new tin foil for the jars, and a big one - make sure your hands are clean when messing with any of the materials. Any more suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanx and great site!!! Very helpful.

wash hands, i personally mist the area with alchohol then after dry clean with lysol. I douse the air with alot of Oust and i use alot of germX on my hands.
BTW, i would not use cracked corn if i were you. Just get a back of wild bird seed. It's been a history that WBS works ALOT better than cracked corn...

No need. A lot of people don't even really wash them between round one and two.
One suggestion I have is to use one of those "no wash" liquid hand sanitizers. They're handy.

And rye works a lot better than WBS.

I'd feed the cracked corn to some chickens and use rye or wbs for your spawn. However, to wet your feet, the prevailing wisdom is to use the brf teks. There's no need to even wash the brand new jars. In fact, between uses, I simply rinse out the jars and wash with soap and water, then put away with the lids off. When ready to use, simply refill and sterilize. Read everything you can on sterile procedures. Remember, YOU are the number one vector of contamination in mycology. RR
