Well I just did a grow with my own hpoo and it is looking prety weak. Is there such thing as low grade Hpoo? They are from my own horses they get fed real good. I speed leech it because there is no way for me to tell the actual age of the manure. Could my manure just be low grade? How do I make it high grade?

are you talking about this 'low grade poo?'

i dont think it looks that bad, not bad enough to go blaspheming the great POO.
id start with that 1inch casing layer.... i did the same thing on my first 4inch casing, and got similar results.

H/poo is second only to custom compost.
How you tell if it's prime.
Is by sight, touch, and SMELL.
If it looks weathered, it is.
If a nugget/muffin crumbles into fiber, it's dry.
If the fiber has no fecal, or urine smell. It's good to go.
Your problem could be any 1, or several of all the cult variables involved.

Tippinthru I grabbed all nugs from the pasture. The poop is randomly throught the pasture so I get a bunch of different ages. It is dry when I find it and I do this to make sure it is leeched enough. It sometimes has a smell when i bring it in but then after this it doesnt smell anymore.
Here is what I got rite now.

hey mikeownow, how much poo do you have? I need more but dont want to pay the prices on the sponsors sites. Do you think there is a way for you to package it up if I paid shipping plus more? If this is a possibility pm me. I am going to the lake right now but i'll get back to you. Just a suggestion, personally i feel it would be a hassle to do for you but i am just wondering. I also live in washington, so maybe close by. thanks and thanks for the rating

Shame on all of you and your fecal fetishes. If you're going to use poo it should be on a large scale. Not one where you are playing with each nugget of excrement. That's sick and wrong.

hey mycownow. yes there is such a thing. if your poo is too old. the nutrients are eroded and it wiss be more like a soil, than a substrate. allthough there are remedies for that.
adding nutrient rich things like coffee grounds, hay, corn cobs, grass clippings, coir, ect....
getting fresher poo and leaching it yourself is a good way to ensure nutrients will be left in it when you use it.
i use a compost pile which by the way i use for my garden as well. every day i add something. i turn it regularly and wet when it is too dry.
i used some it before for a grow. it was the fist time i tried it. and the myc ripped thru the substrate quickly.
allthough my strain had a very aggressive myc. i would recommend experimenting with it to find what works for you. for more i deas, look through agar's logs. he has some great ideas for composting.
also. look into commercial substrate preperation. it is a simple recipe and schedual to follow.
but as to what i saw in the pictures you posted. it looks good but i would add some chunky verm and coir to give it some texture and allow for more air exchange.
and i am sure you know about adding lime, gypsum, ect...
ph is always a contributing factor in good growth.
well, thats my 2 cents. hope i have helped some.

Oh, and 'gay' is no good... use 'straight' straw... hay has too many seeds, and contams too easy
