Got a question about a incubator tek
    #589089 - 03/25/02 03:42 PM (21 years, 11 months ago)

i found a tek that i'm going to use and say forget the whole building a box idea ..
for some reason i just thought there would be a better safer way then the rubbermaid way ...
well i found one on the little spore guy site..
i don't know the name so i will just type out what it is .
items: styroefoam cooler
50 w aquaruim heater
thermometer gauge
large "fruitjug" container
h202

It says to fill the jug up with water add a cap of h202 and put the gauge down the top of the jug ..
and then put in cooler and thermeter in there with the jars in it ...

The question i have .. is
With the fruit jar ... do you poke holes in the top??
keep the open put of the jar loose??
just tighten the heater in it to seal it??

This incubator is the shiznit. http://www.fungifun.org/pf/incubator.htm

Jars are 90% colonized in 1 week and 1 day. Cant beat that with a stick.

Put foil over the top to keep the water from
cooking away. And keep your thermometer
on top of the foil. I thought I had invented this
type of incubator until I found the shroomery.
Damn!  Late again! LOL :peace:

i just leave mine uncovered, it helps keep moister in the air, which keeps jars from drying out. i refill it every 2 days, and alternate between water and h2o2 (it only takes a lil bit too top it off)

If you are going to go and buy a rubbermaid container and an aquairum heater then just buy an extra rubbermaid container and build one like Anno's....I think I posted in one of your threads before with the link. The incubator is great IMO...I used an incubator like the one that you are considering building and I had pretty good results but jars that sat closer to the jar with the heater were warmer then the jars that were further away which isnt a big problem but I feel better when everything is the same temp. When I used the incubator with the jar and the heater I put foil over the top so that all the water didnt evaporate and end up making everything wet in the incubator.

I built this one also. The Annobator I call it. It works on my bags like magic and alot faster than my old closet and a light bulb... another tip i ll give you is for drying shrooms... the jebsu2000 fan drying unit works awesome as hell and can be built for about 14 or 15 dollars
