quick q about WBS
    #5888366 - 07/22/06 06:08 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

i cook it but not sure if i cooked it at the right temp water was hot few bubles where boiling up thought the seed. i did wash the seeds 2-3 times before cooking and a good wash after cooking. they are now drying in a strainer. is the cooking temp a huge deal?

first time doing WBS sorry.

I don't cook at all.

wbs will hydrate pretty fast, but I recommend a soak.

some don't like to wait 24 hours, so they simmer...

you're looking to germinate bacterial endospores, and
fully hydrate your grains without bursting them all open.

you'll probably be fine.
people do this so many different ways.

just make sure to sterilize well.

You'll SEE a difference, you may not FEEL a difference though. WBS will colonize very fast.

I'm having way more luck spawning to cococoir though... I think Mike may have hydrated his hpoo wrong or used it when it was too fresh or something, because when I got it, it smelled really musty, and was clumped into a big brick. It's been taking WELL over a week to colonize a small tub of it, and it only took the coir about 4-6 days to fully colonize in 2 much larger tubs... Kind of wierd since i've heard hpoo colonizes the fastest of any bulk, but whatever, could just be a gnarly batch that I got.

Anyways, I'm sure you'll enjoy wbs->anything cased.

nahhhhh, don't try to make a wbs cake... that's sorta silly... if you're going to do that, might as well make a brf cake, takes less time and less hassle.
