Cultivation question

Hello all, this is my first post in this forum I just got my myco bags and spore syringes and was wondering how deeply do you inject the cake/substrate or whatever the fuck it is. Do you just break the surface and squirt or do you push the needle in as far as it will go? Also: They recommend putting 3 cc's in the centre and i was wondering if perhaps putting 1 cc in the centre and another 1 cc on either end of the substrate. As I'm sure you can tell this is my first time doing this

You got to shake the bags, so it doesn't matter where you inject, as long as its inside the substrate. I think...

What adjust said. Just squirt it in, then "knead" it into the substrate.
I don't mean to come off like a dick here but I STROOOOONGLY recommend you do more reading before you do squat. If you're wondering about something like how far you have to inject, then I'm guessing you don't have the finer points about sterility down yet (among other things).
Again, that isn't a flame. Just advice.

Have you made jars at all before? It's the same concept. What you are growing in the bag is your spawn. Unless you are growing in vitro (neat idea still haven't tried it though) You do need to mix up the bag for faster colonization (same idea as injecting in four spots in the jars) What are you using as spawn?
The idea behind the bags is to create spawn to spawn to a subrate for bulk growing. Hope that helps. But i do agree with spilf. You might want to read some more.

My advice is to spend a week solid reading the cultivation forum. Use the search feature like a madman. And when you have enough posts/time here (I think it's 10 posts and 10 days or something, I forget), you get access to the grow logs. Start reading those too.
If you don't take the time to learn the **** out of this hobby, you stand a decent chance of horking up your grow. Better to postpone it a week and get it done properly. A stitch in time saves nine and all that... =)

OK well I don't recommend growing bulk for the first time or trying casings the first time, but it's your decision. If you want to try to grow with the bags maybe look into doing it invitro. Untill you get a little experince it can be difficult to start advanced. And frustrating when you don't succeedhttp://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/5278987/page/0/fpart/1/vc/1/nt/6
Is there a reason you wanted to try that first instead of an non advanced tek? (Just wondering) What are you using for spawn?

AFAIK "pf tek" is the "beginner" method.
But I started off with bulk (see my sig, WBS -> hpoo) and did fine. The first two tries went tits-up but that was due to bunk syringes). Granted, it IS a little bit harder and only for the people willing to spend hours every day reading up, but...

By no means is it hard to grow anything. But starting off is hard I am sure you will do fine. Just make sure that you are well researched And when in doubt post a ? that's important, If you aren't sure someone will always help you
GOOD LUCK:)

Yep no prob And not at all the least naive people are the ones asking questions. Not using your resources and asking to make sure is NAIVE:) You are wise for asking questions no matter how "stupid" it seems to others. When they have been doing it a long time it frustrating to have beginners ask the same things over thats all. But MOST people on here aren't to judgemental:)

PIHKaL. Rock on. =)
Almost fourteen thousand posts and this is your first stop in Cult? Yowza. Welcome aboard.
Growing shrooms is kinda like getting laid. The first time you're nervous as fuck and you analyze everything but once it's over, it's about as hard as brushing your teeth. Two months ago I was sweating my first jars, looking them over every fifteen minutes. Now I go without inspecting my jars for days. Eventually I look and voila, mycelium.
Welcome to the club. You'll find lots of help here, I'm sure.

yep that is how it goes alright. I was always checking and double checking and rechecking. And is that mold is this ?? did I do this right? I was lucky though I have wise eyes watching over and guiding me. So I didn't have to out source Experience is a wonderful thing, but knowledge is what leads you to success and experience... ignorance leads to failure.

I suppose ultimately the best course of action may just be to experiment on my own, perhaps inoculate 3 or 4 bags utilizing different srategems with each one and see what works best
