I know that Pann Subbs are not on the list for active species in WV, but I have heard several people say that they grow here. My question is should I just stick to blue foots or should I keep a look out for Pann subbs also?

Also if it is worth hunting pann subbs what is would be the best habitat for them (yards and grass or cow fields?)

Panaeolus subbalteatus are a universal mushroom I believe, meaning, you can find them just about anywhere given the right conditions.

I found many subbs growing out of grass, but in my personal opinion, they were far too weak to be worth searching for. However, try looking around hay/decaying hay bails in areas with horses or cattle, some consider the subbs that grow from this substrate to be far more substantial and potent. P. subbalteatus does not grow directly from cow or horse manure.

I'd look for the hay bail/compost subbs perhaps.

It's worth a shot.

You can probably find Gyms in the woodlands also.

Hey guys, thanks for the info. It just so happens that my fav. blue foot patch is right near a horse stable/field. I will def. have to check it out next time I'm there, and hopefully I'll have some nice specimens to share with you all.

Peace
