PMP humidty
    #5886188 - 07/21/06 11:58 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

grr i jsut got back from wally world with my hygrometer/thermometer put that into my pmp (perlite) and after waiting for an hour im still only at 84 degrees and 37 humidity.
37!

idk maybe im crazy, but i swear its mroe humid than that in there.

my pmp is fairly small, 14 x 9 x 11 in.

perlite is about 3 inches deep. and wat is jsut under that.
when i have the top open i hear the air bubbles coming up through the perlite, not too much, but i think its enough.

my airpump is an AQT 3001, only single output which i have a T connector for.

so basicaly, i know im not doign something right. up for any suggestions

try having your standing water only an inch deep, that should raise your humidity.

Oh, and also, perlite will take a bit longer than an hour to get to 100% humidity... try checking it tomorrow, don't open it!

yamidude,
yea, i kind of figured that, especially coming from walmart.. but what can you do when you get there and notice you only have 10 bucks on yourslef and had to scrounge for 1 more lol.

but even if it does suck... is 37% insanely innacurate or is that a mistake of mine?

No, it's not that inaccurate.

Your humidity is low. It may be a DEFECTIVE product, but you could do a salt test to check that.

i doubt its defective.. so lets say its working perfectly, and tells no lies.

what would be some ways toget my humidity up? take out some water (which i will do tomorrow if i see no results over night) how bout a new air pump? mine is def. an older model and maybe it jsut isnt strong enough.

or possibly the bubblers? ill get a pic or lin kto them in a second.

Bubble wands work much better in PMP's... Not to say those bubble stones wont work, just not as good.

Werd, bubble wands oWn. You just need to wait a little bit buddy. Perlite alone will give you high 90%rh. Either your gauge hasn't caught up yet or it's fucked up..

Ahh, awesome. If you have perlite, water and bubble wands, you can bet your chamber will be 100% in 24 hours, unless you have giant unfiltered holes everywhere. even then it will be more than 37%.

I'd invest in a better hygrometer, or just go by intuition... intuition has been working for me ever since i dropped my hygro into a bubbling vat of h202... never check on your cakes when you're high :P

calibrate your hygrometer with a little bit of salt: http://www.shroomery.org/index.php/par/7993

it works.

Just a word of advise. Poke small pin size holes in those cheap bubble wands before they clog up, unless of coarse, perilite is moderately protective against matter buildup. I disliked having to take my PMP apart and clean it during a fruiting cycle I had going once.

I've got a question, is the humidity sensor on the outside sensor, or is it located in the body of the hygrometer/thermometer. From your pic it looks like you leave it outside your pmp.

Exactly what I was thinking, my temp sensor is wireless but the humidity sensor is housed in the base-unit itself.
