well, if he's not even the best at his position, it's unlikely he's the best overall athlete

Horton was 3rd star the night he died, the next day on our way to a concert in Buffalo and we drove by the guard rail he smashed into

I was going to mention Probert. Hockey also had John Kordic of the canadiens/leafs who died at the age of 27 totally fucked up on coke and alcohol, then there's Theo Fleury, the list goes on

Early, on the morning of 21 February 1974, while driving on the Queen Elizabeth Way from Toronto to Buffalo in his De Tomaso Pantera sports car, (a gift from Sabres' GM George "Punch" Imlach), Horton was involved in what is now an infamous accident. He was negotiating a curve on the QEW where it crosses over Twelve Mile Creek in St. Catharines, Ontario when he lost control, flipped, and was thrown from the vehicle. He was not wearing a seat belt. Horton was reported dead on arrival at the local hospital. A police officer pursuing Horton's vehicle said that he had been travelling at over 100mph (160 km/h). There were also reports Horton had consumed a considerable amount of vodka, and was rumoured to have been taking analgesic pain killers due to a jaw injury suffered in a practice the day before. An autopsy report released in 2005 showed Horton had a blood-alcohol level of twice the legal limit. The blood test also showed signs of amobarbital and residue from the dexamyl amphetamine pills that were found on Horton's body. The autopsy showed no indication he was taking painkillers as previously thought.
see he was being chased by the cops

Need I say Barry Sanders????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
-------------------- “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
