^^^^ will do. I hate to be a pest and ask the same thing again but im confused as to whether the tyvek must be replaced or patched after it is punctured by the syringe. Maybe im just an idiot but im having a hard time understanding that.

Dude, don't do all that shit..... Just go get some fucking micropore tape (in the first aid area... nexcare makes it in a scotch tape dipsenser). Just tape the holes and you don't have to remake the jars... I don't know why every is telling you to use tyvek and polyfil... micropore has worked almost as well as polyfil for me, and there's no reason you should have to re-do your jars just because you used a coffee filter instead..
And no, don't replace the tyvek after it's punctured by the syringe, it's a thick weave polyester material (like polyfil woven into a sheet of paper).
You'll be fine by just putting a piece of micropore tape over each hole for your first run though... Just make sure you remove the coffee filter and put the tape on in a room with NO DRAFTS no WINDOWS no MOVING AIR. I use a bathroom with no windows with the door closed.. I spray lysol on all surfaces then use oust on the air, let it all settle for 5 minutes while I get things ready, then inject.
I hope you love me.

Just skip the whole filter idea. It's not needed.
Poke or drill a hole in the lids and cover with tinfoil. That's all you need to do.

I wouldn't use insulin syringes for anything other than insulin. They clog very easily and are not meant to be used more than once so they fall apart. The plunger sometimes gets stuck and the plastic

lots of insulin syringes also have a syringe filter on them too... not sure if that would filter out spores, but i'd rather use a nice 16-14 gauge 30cc syringe any day.

Yes.
Where you puncture the tyvek you should cover with micropore tape. Me, I like to pre-cut strips of micropore and let it sit in a petri dish filled with rubbing alcohol. After I inoculate three jars I re-apply an alcohol-soaked cotton ball around the needle itself and lay it someplace clean. I then pull each micropore strip out of the alcohol and place over the hole. The alcohol will evaporate, leaving the tape stuck to the tyvek.

My understanding was that mushnoon accidentally used coffee filters (not tyvek or micropore) on his jars. Above the lid but below the ring. What he's attempting to do is swap out the coffee filters with tyvek.
Unless I seriously misread something...

<I hope you love me. > I do, and even moreso I love your inspirational letters I think ill go the micropore route, sounds easiest. I did try using the coffee filters at first, I should have read the TEKs a litte closer. Ill learn from my mistake and give it another run.

amen man... i've never had a problem using micropore tape... on some of my grain jars i've used one hole with polyfil, i didn't see any advantage... so micropore is my filter of choice.
and i'm glad you love me, because i love you and everyone else here so much
