In what ways has it changed your life? What insights were most appreciated, and how did receiving them influence the changes that have been produced in your life?

I read the excerpts from Chapter One on Amazon.com, and it was an intriguing read. I was disappointed when it flipped from the last page they share to the index. :frown:

Hearing about how it has specifically changed you will really spark an interest!

Sorry for the late response! I was out of town this weekend.

This book just helped me open my eyes and my awareness to the "interconnectedness" of all the experiences we witness in life, and it then helped me to begin embracing each of these experiences. Eknath uses simple analogies and comforting descriptions to bring back to light some of the most primitive, yet essential philosophies for living; most of which the average person ignores throughout their entire life.

The book has also helped me face death (not ACTUALLY face death itself, but bring the concept of it to full awareness and helped allay manner fears and preconceptions I had of it). It also helped me ponder the complexities and traps that can befall a person if they choose to confront their true Self.

Whether you're christian, atheist, buddhist, whatever, you should read this. The author made it very approachable for anyone seeking some fresh insights into all of the big questions in life.

Anyways, enough advertising for Eknath  Hope someone takes a gander!

Could you perhaps elaborate on this a bit?

I think our mind tends to obstruct our experience of The Self, by maintaining a "sense" of identity. Ultimately, the mind constructs a sense of identity based upon past events, and suddenly all of your experience is being filtered through this preconception of who you are.

The good thing is that one simply needs to become aware, and it isn't hard to get the ball rolling when it comes to awareness. The more one directly perceives reality, in this moment, the more one directly experiences The Self, as it unfolds and expresses itself, and then the mind's limited definitions of its identity will naturally dissolve.

One can sense the self, but one need not define the self - it occurs in the moment, constantly changing and evolving as new experience results from the interaction...

Yes, I agree with everything you said here.

BUT, not everyone finds it as easy to keep pushing the envelope once they become aware of their true Self being present within themselves. It takes a bit of determination, and outside help sometimes.
