Quick question about Heimia Salicifolia.

First off, I would like to say hello to you all and introduce myself. I have been reading this site for quite some time, but this is my first real post. Recently, I started my own garden with a few entheogens. They include Lion's Tail, Wild Opium Lettuce, Sun Opener, Passionflower, Calea Zacatechichi, Leonotis Sibericus, and Wormwood. My question is about the Heimia. I've been looking for any information as to how long it takes for it to sprout, but haven't found an answer. Does anybody know about how long it takes to germinate?

1-3 weeks.
I find it hard to get heima species to germinate.Well not hard but the germ. rate is really low.
They are very slow growers from seed as well.I dont know how fast they grow when they are a bit more mature but at seedling stage they are like old asians driving a k car.
What methods did you use to germinate your calea seeds?I have some pods but am having problems germinating them.
Do you have pictures of your garden?I am interested to see your plants. It seems you have a nice collection going.Good luck!
If your calea is old enough I would like a cutting from it.I have a few different plants I could take a cutting from in turn for it.Please let me know.Happy gardening.

Unfortunately I don't have any pics of them as of yet, because the only ones that have sprouted are the Leonurus and Morning Glory. The sowing instructions I got with the Calea seeds were to sprnkle them on top of the soil and then keep the surface moist until they germinate which takes 5-10 days. I only planted 10 or so Calea seeds and from what I hear, they are hard to grow from seed, so i'm not getting my hopes up.

I can never get more than 40%-50% germ out of them. I just stick to taking cuttings...
Here is one from last year, the growth died back in the winter, and looked like a bunch of sticks in the pot. Then this spring all the branches grew out multiple new tips.

Hey llamabox, what method do you use to make cuttings, I have a huge plant, but I tried to take some cuttings and they all failed, any pointers.

I only cut from new green growth. No woody stems. keep them misted everyday. And I use a rooting gel.

there not that hard realy, but they can take longer to sprout sometimes, they did for me.
in fact i was already planting other things in the tray i had sowed em in when they started sprouting lol.
also one of em popped up amoung my cacti after i recycled the soil left from repotting.

(the yellow label is exactly one half inch across) this one is just growing out of the vulnerabe stages now, it might even survive carfull repotting now.
there very vulnerable at sweedling stage, and i think this is were most people fail. ive lost alot of em trying to get the watering just right. its not as bad as peganum, but the moisture req is pretty specific.
my germ rates i estimate were about 50-60% but the survival rate of seedlings was less then 10%. (u should know i lie near the dutch coast with severe ambient humidity. now there past the seedling stage they are quickly becoming tougher.

Thank you all for the info. I was beginning to wonder if the seeds were bunk and unfortunately I couldn't find the info on any websites. All I need to do now is wait.
