Drying and other Questions

Hey, my cat is growing a few cakes, they have been in the fruiting chamber for over a month now, and only the two dunked in verm are showing any action, and they're only showing aborts, it seems the shrooms start, and then turn blueish and stop growing. He's misting once a day, could he be overwatering? The other verm free ones have small pins, but no mushrooms actually start growing, only tiny pins with a blueish tinge which is either due to stress or dehydration. What could be going wrong?
Also, the one cake he did manage to harvest a little from is being dunked right now after the first flush. It's in two pieces so he hopes it doesn't fall apart, he's going to reroll it in verm when done dunking. He has the shrooms in a little tupperware container sitting on top of Calcium chlroide. The shrooms are on a little square of printing paper. Cuz he couldn't find wire to make a dry box out of. Is this safe? Some of the mushrooms are relaly bruised, and when broken open are dark blue, but there's no black ooze like there should be when rotten. Will these be safe to eat? Do pics need to be posted to be sure?
One more, a friend put some trimmings from the cake into the ground in the shade under a tree, then he put a layer of verm, layer of dirt, and another layer of verm, then dirt on top. He waters every day by pouring some water out of a glass directly onto it. Could anything happen with this? What are some tips for it to go better? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help out.

what are you using to raise humidity? sounds like a low humidity problem. as for the drying question, just invest in a dehydrator, it makes things so much easier

He's been using Perlite, but the humidity doesn't seem to get any higher, and it seems more pins turn blue after It is heavily misted then fanned. He's taken to injecting spring water directly into the cakes, which so far has revitalized the mycelium a bit.

Your cat is fucking with his shit too much. Don't directly mist the cakes, that will cause the problems you are describing.
And yes the abhorts are fine to eat. You'll know if they're rotten because they will turn to mush.
