Quick Pinning Question ?

I've had pins forming for the last week and a half. I've counted them up and there's around 17, the biggest is about an inch tall.
Is it normal for the first pins to stop growing while the others are forming ? My biggest pin doesn't seem to be growing at all.
Will the others catch up, then they'll all grow to full size together ?
Thanks,,,, .

no its not normal. once it gets to about 1/2" in size it should take off and start growing really quick, regardless of what the other pins or the rest of the cake is doing.
you'll have to give us more information to diagnose your problem.
cakes i take it? did you dunk?
whats your FC like? parameters? etc.
sounds like either a lack of moisture within your cake (if you're using them) or lack of humidity in your FC, but clue us in on what you're doing...

I didn't really want to say because i usually get shunned when i mention the words "myco-bag".
I think it's too dry, even the mycelium on the top is starting to look abit desiccated. It's been too warm for it.
How can i fix it ? Am i allowed to spray it while the pins are forming ? Looks like i might have too. I'm glad i made this post, i would of just left them to their own devices if you hadn't of said that !
Thanks alot !

you can spray while pins are forming. be gentle and be careful! spray from a distance at an angle over the pins so only the finest mist drifts down onto the surface. its better to do this frequently and lightly, rather than to try and soak it down in a hurry. if you're fruiting in a bag you can also inject little bits of water between the edge of the bag and your substrate. again being careful, using little bits at a time and spread it out. don't want to soak things, make them soggy, or have any water pool up.

Just be sure to give plenty of air exchange after misting. If the pins sit wet for very long, they often abort. RR
