I noticed that they were advertising it not to long ago also.
I rarely even watch TV, let alone sci-fi but I thought it was pretty weird that they would show it on there.

Haha I actually watch lots of wrestling, i dont know, me and my friends just find it entertaining. The stuff on Sci-Fi is ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling), which is owned by the big company, WWE. I dont know why they chose sci-fi, but they kind of work sci-fi things into it, like a tarot card reader and a vampire, kind of weird. But its only on one night a week, tuesday, for an hour, so you dont have much to worry about.

I used to love watching Old-ECW when it was in its prime. bhamlaxy you probably remember those days. Now ECW has turned into a diet version of the good ol days.

I used to watch it some in the past...
Funny because I thought ECW was east coast wrestling. A less mainstream group by that name does exist around here. I even know a few people that are in it.

Haha actually me and my friend only recently got into wrestling, around last october. We were just flipping channels and we saw some guy do a crazy thing on monday night raw, since then we watch it every week.

But I have seen some of the old ECW clips and it looks sweet, much more about "wrestling" instead of "sports entertainment"

I agree-that ECW isn't like it used to be. But give it time and maybe old Vince McMahon will have it up and running as good as Raw,it's a little slow right now. Definitely not like it used to be.

I highly doubt it man. The good ol days are gone forever. The last PPV was very good, but ECW will never return to the glory days IMO. Theres a lot of good video sites that has old tapes. The Philly ones are always the best. Of course time will only tell, but like you I hope it returns to normal.

Even the old shit is sports entertainment, but at least they used to do some pretty wild shit. I remember when Stone Cold Steve Austin was in ECW, and I think there were a few other spill overs into wwf and wcw back then too.

Thats what I mean, back then it was about doing crazy shit, not about selling merchandise etc. If you watch wrestling a guy did a speech about the difference between sports entertainment and wrestling

They should have never revived ECW. It's a horror show now.

Fuck this thread.

ECW ECW ECW!!!

Well... ECW before Vince McMahon bought it and turned into a fucking joke parody of how great it once was. Much like Sci-Fi before they started airing wrestling... coincidence?

By the way, I'm probably one of the biggest original Extreme Championship Wrestling fans on the Shroomery.

Having thought about this for a few minutes it makes since for the Sci-Fi channel because they are getting a show with a built-in fanbase that's much bigger than anything Sci-Fi has ever had before that has a lot of potential crossover fans (a good portion of the WWE is going to be into horror and sci-fi films since entertainment wise they're similiar) and can run commercials and promos and potentially strong lead in and lead out shows on the wrestling program. It makes sense for WWE because it's "C" show behind their "B" show Smackdown (which just got dumped by the CW (formally WB) for a really stupid reason) and their "A" flagship show Smackdown. Sci-Fi won't ask for big ratings or make many programming requests or complaints because they're not strong enough business wise to be able to turn away the potential fan base they're bringing in and potential ratings WWE would bring.

The only ones who really aren't benefitting or getting anything out of this deal is the wrestling fans who are getting fucked on a sub-standard programming that is raping the memory of the best program and promotion in the history of wrestling. Although WWE is starting to get it. Especially with CM Punk who's going to be an iconic legend up with Ric Flair and Bret Hart when he's finished.

TV loses again.

I rememeber when the Learning Chanel had Scientists and Doctors and Historians and shit on it..  Now it has Cops, Tornadoes and Reality shows.
