I assume it runs on 12V/ DC. Have you tried running some jumper wires, from the battery, to the fan direct, and see if it runs then? If it does not still run, your fan is bad. If it does run, then, something is stopping from coming on. Maybe it has a thermal fuse, or resistor somewhere in the wiring. Sorry, but I have never had an Honda.

The fan will run off a 9v battery if you have one use it and two pieces of speaker wire. If you connect them and it works then its the switch.. Just run a toggle switch with a fuse

Also remember the fan runs off your temp sensor for your radiator. So if your thermostat is bad that will cause it to over heat b/c its not reading the correct temp (to kick on fan at high temp) so if your fan does work, that would be my next bet. You can get a cooler running thermostat too, that will kick the fan on at lower temps

If you don't want to spend money to repair it, I would suggest that you try to keep the car cruising at 30 mph, and turn the vent on and set the temp the the highest possible.

Have you found a wiring diagram? If so follow the whole relevant path with a multimeter.

If the fans work, but won't come on automatically, it is probably a faulty relay. The relay switch is usually located in a box mounted on the firewall. *Haynes manuals are invaluable.

I guess since I havent every own a car with electric fans, I,m not sure how it fixed it. If the thermostat, was stuck open, I would have thought that the car would run cool, but you said it was overheating. If the thermostat was stuck closed, I would have thought the fan would be wanting to run all the time, but still overheat. Beats the hell out of me.
But glad its fixed for you.

Glad you got it fixed I just can't say enough good things about the haynes manuals, especially with all the electronic possibilities. They will lead you through a step by step process, explaining how to test each part for continuity. Without these, I'd be lost, I'm liek electronically retarded

Oh Really? OH did I mention I have been a back yard mechanic since I was 16? lol I just quit my dead end job being the "EVERYTHING girl" at your local parts store. (going through phase in life where i tried to get a pointless job that didnt pay me enough so i didnt have to think and could be mindles... ended up have to run the store for next to no pay.. I say .... GOODBYE.. You cant pay me enough..I want to have a no mind job... ) Yes. I was the girl that told you what part you needed. I have been building mudd trucks for mudd drags, racing imports/ and domestics, sprint cars, and motorcycles since I was 16. If I wanted it... I built it... Master Jack of All Trades
I am glad it works! enjoy
FYI: Chilton is another excellent manual. The thermostat is what reads the temp of the engine. If there is no temp reading it doesnt know what to do, may have been closed b/c at start up engine was cold, then the sensor goes out but therm is still closed. It just has no temp reading to know whether to turn on the fan or not.. At a certain temp (depended on your therm it can be 170-190 degrees) it tells the motor its to hot. So when its at 180 degress it opens allowing coolant to circulate and also electronicly triggers the fans to start (pulling the air past the radiator with cool fluid) blowing cold air on the moter which cools it. (random fact, my first motorcycle was an '87 Ninja ZX6R first year of this liquid cooled technology in a bike)
