liquid damprid (calcium chloride desiccant) clean-up
    #5881767 - 07/20/06 03:32 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

Does anyone know of a good method for cleaning up spills and splashes of liquid DampRid?  As you know, the calcium chloride pellets "melt" as they absorb water, and you end up with this heavy liquid.  But the liquid doesn't seem to evaporate, and it's really gross feeling on your hands, and it is probably toxic?  How to remove this substance from floors, desks, hands, etc?  Anyone know?

the easiest way is to not be such a slob with it in the first place and put it in disposable containers

sorry i dont have a useful suggestion to clean it up for you, i use silica gel and avoid that mess, and recharge it over and over again in the oven... not a damprid fan

i can tell you its not toxic and totally safe to be touching though, gross or not... and its safe to flush down the toilet (i think thats what the mfg suggests actually)
