Plants like music ... Mushroom like??
    #588187 - 03/24/02 02:10 PM (21 years, 6 months ago)

Just wondering if anyone has go though little testing projects like putting music to mushroom when they are in the terrium ..?
Was it a better result then no music ??

The big one i'm going to try down the road and just wonder if any every thought of just trying it to see if it works is ....
Has anyone ever tryed taking two terriums and in one of them paste pictures of the same spieces not growing to good and in the other put pictures of the same spieces growing really good ..
Can mushrooms see this ...
Will it make the mushrooms in the terrium with big healthy (same spieces) pictures on the wall make the real ones wanna grow big and get atleast as big has the pictures .. kinda of a "ego-booster"?
And what about the unhealthy pictures terruim .. what would happen there ...??

Not shure if they like all music styles, but my shroomies shure dance their ass off every time i play psychedelic trance for them...they also organize big events when i leave home....at some partyz they even invite foreign DJ's to come over and play (last week they had the world famous DJ Azure to play for them, mad event!) I find that experiment very interesting though, the one with 2 identical terrariums one with music and one without, the only problem though is, that they really have to be IDENTICAL cos otherwise we might have false results... for the terrariums to be identical we need same strain same humidity, same conditions generally, temps, light, everything....hmmmm....you say hang pics in the terrariums also?> How about some toys in one of them too? Musical instruments? Some ready rolled joints? Trips?e's? How about some porn-pics for them? They might get horny and...MULTIPLY!

Dear sterile i'm sorry my question was to wild and stupid ... thank you for the smart ass post ..

but it's even more sad to see how many others choose to be a asshole and add their favorite smart ass comment

I was just wondering ... i posted this thread for a answer ...

Even as a newbie to the board i bet five bucks half of the smart ass ones that reply's AFTER sterile ... seen this thread earlier in the day but was to afraid to add a smartass remark in fear their made of looked stupid if one of the "well known" would of said "hey bob that would be a good test to try .. " ...

I'll tell you how the results work down the road ...

Plants don't have ears, but it's been shown that music can promote there growth and general health. The reason: Sound vibrations. It's good stimulation. Ever seen a plant grown in a mall? No air flow, no strong gusts of wind. The plant grows spindly and eventually collapses under it's own wait. Now take a plant in the wild, thats thrashed about in storms... it gets battered, survives and grows stonger. What music does is provide vibrations to help it grow stong, while not violently thrashing about and being cuased harm, such as in a storm.

Now all you have to figure out is how vibrations can help fungi growth.

Bob,
The thought that your question was stupid never passed my mind....in fact i made the exact question a few months ago....(the one about music...)+(you can find my post)  My answer isnt a "smart ass" answer, and i apologize if it sounds like that...the last thing i want to do is bring a newbie down...What i wrote about music is 100% truth(!!), and the rest was only there to make you smile
In fact i dont know what shroomies do while we sleep
I believe that everything can affect their growth....its just that we cant be shure of what that is, untill we do experiments....
So i am waiting for the results of your experiments drooling....
Just keep in mind that the growth parameters have to be IDENTICAL... and Roadkill ,i talk to my shroomies too
I think shroomhermit is right on that...and uumm gaps in the substrate sounds hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Captain , whats the White Rabbit song ? (Artist?)
Happy shrooming!

I agree that vibration can make a big difference in growth. I've posted this several times - I saw unbelievable growth in 6 hours time, after tripping with LOUD music the whole time. My whole room was vibrating, and the mushies LOVED it. Unfortunately, I blew my transformer during the next trip, and haven't been able to duplicate the vibration.

I don't really know anyone who grows mushrooms. I just come here for fun.

White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane

'And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low.....'

Only song I can think of with a mushroom reference.

The mushroom described in "White Rabbit" is the Amanita Muscaria.

The famous book that started the plant / music myth was "The Secret Life of Plants". The "facts" were not facts at all. His results have not been able to be duplicated.

Plants / fungi may indeed respond to volume and frequency, but not music per se. That is strictly a human perception.
