I am thinking this may be based on your opinion but back it up with facts. My friend and I are trying to grow some B+ and Golden Teachers. We're using vermiculite/brown rice flower/water substrate. I read alot about birdseed and horse dung... I just so happen to breed horses so I was thinking I probably have the freshest horse shit that anyone could get. should I have used that?
back your opinions with facts please.

Read up some more. WBS to Hpoo is one of the most reccomended methods. You don't want fresh poo though. You want aged poo so go find some older dried out shat. There is some TEKS here on leaching and pasturizing the poo. Hpoo is most likely the most reccomended for a reason, being that it is often the most successfuly used substrate.

Hpoo is the best substrate however you dont need to use bird seed, you can use rye, popcorn or even BRF. if your already using BRF just go ahead and spawn it to some pasteurized aged hpoo once your jars are at 100%

Custom compost is the very best. Second only to weathered h/poo.

Rye grain is the very best substrate you can use. By far.
It's advantages are that it's far less likely to contam than WBS. It will produce a lot more than BRF. And the biggest one is that IT'S NOT SHIT!

this question could get complicated...
best substrate to grow off...as far as grains?
best colonized grain substrate to use...as spawn?
and whats best to use...as a bulk substrate?

and as far as horse manure goes...
you want dried up, aged horse poo...that's been sitting in the field getting weathered for awhile.
and in nugget and muffin form!~
